Pros

Compensation is above average for PHP developers in the area. The other developers are great people and I enjoyed working with them.

Cons

The technical leadership is arrogant and very outdated. I was actually told that namespaces were stupid and not to use them, that instead of using SQL joins I should join in code (whatever that means), and countless other unbelievable things. They also refused to take ownership of the code base and had very little understanding of the code they were asking us to implement. When something goes wrong, leadership just looks for someone to blame instead of trying to find solutions. Every time there was an issue, leadership would just find the last person to work on that code and say whatever they did was wrong, but when asked how it should have been done correctly, they could never answer. There was no interest from leadership in actually trying to understand the code and find solutions. Ironically, if anyone even questioned the way leadership wanted to do something (even when it was clearly wrong), they were met with hostility and threats. I had my job threatened multiple times, was yelled at and cussed out, simply because I tried bringing up concerns over the way developers were being treated. I cannot speak to how other departments are treated, but my advice to any developers is don't work here! You will be frustrated after your first month.

As the PlayMaker Engineering organization matures, we must adopt practices that will ensure that our products meet and exceed our client’s expectations for availability, correctness, and innovation. This requires that the Engineering organization become more disciplined and deliberate regarding our technology choices, our approach to addressing technical debt, our focus on quality, and our planning for the future. We must also hold ourselves accountable to delivering at the level our client’s demand. As we hold transparency, collaboration, and team engagement as core principles, we ensure that all team members are involved in the decision-making process. Individuals with strong opinions are treated with respect as long as that individual respects the team’s decision once the team choses a solution to the problem at hand. While this is not an environment suited for all solo flyers, it is how we believe strong teams are built. If a member of the team is not respectful, they will be warned, and if the behavior does not change, they will be asked to leave. As we shift our focus to the future, the team looks forward to continuing to embrace industry best practices, new technology, and demonstrating true technical innovation. We wish you the best of luck in your future projects.

The 2 good reviews are from owners or their puppets

Pros

There are no pros about this company. You can see that the 2 "good" reviews are fake and created by the owners or their pets.

Cons

You seen the real reviews from previous employers who were not afraid to stand up and not be bullied. Others are scared to stand up for themselves and treated like puppets. When I refused to be bullied by the owner, they treated me different. Lets not forget that the owner has to photoshop his image on the company marketing brochures. That should tell you the integrity of the company.

Pros

there's free red bull in the tennessee office. got flown out for training and christmas party. if you're cut from the telemarketer cloth (i.e. making 500 calls a week & goading gullible people into product demos), then this is job for you.

Cons

no HR dep't, so no formal avenue to report bullying & harassment. i tolerated a lot of inappropriate behavior from a fellow colleague because who could i talk to about it? also one morning, out of the blue, another colleague was fired on the spot in front of everyone. how is that for morale? a really stressed-out and unhappy atmosphere. don't believe the "sales culture doesn't feel like a frat house" line in one of these reviews; it's *exactly* that. honestly, this job was so depressing that i quit and i'm now in a job and field that i love. so, i suppose that is a pro.

We are sorry to hear you feel that way. We do have an HR team in place, and at no time were we made aware of incidents of bullying, harassment, or inappropriate behavior. We strive to provide a safe and respectful work environment for all team members. As a fast-growing company with high expectations for performance, there are often times of stress that accompany the many positive and rewarding accomplishments we achieve as a group. Understandably, this is not an ideal situation for everyone. We respect your decision to pursue a path more in line with your goals and interests. Best of luck in your new role. We appreciate your contributions during your time with PlayMaker CRM.
