Pros

Great place to advance if you have the right connections.

Cons

Plexxikon is in turmoil, homeless until August 2021 due to the incompetence of the management, too busy promoting themselves to bother finding a place near their current location. No new projects, INDs for NCEs for over 4 years, projects changing all the time. Management doesn't value employees and told them they expect prople to leave and they will get new ones. Just look at the number of posted positions for a 50 people company. Plexxikon is a poor choice if you are a young scientist planning to work for more than 5 years. It may be gone out of business sooner.

Pros

Everyone is dedicated to finding medicines that help save people's lives. People are nice and very collaborative, and really good opportunities for people to grow and move across and up the company ladder.

Cons

The commute :-( just off I-80 in Berkeley. Anyone with a Peninsula, South Bay or even an 880 commute, you can lose a significant part of your day.

Pros

- friendly work environment - promising products - helpful people in every department - good location (close to freeway & biking distance from BART) - encourage employees to take interest in topics by hosting speakers for seminars - good communication within groups to help each other out on projects - challenge employees to understand the research and tasks rather than encourage mundane routine experiments - take up the challenge of research side projects, not just working toward the next product deadline

Cons

- kinda quiet because it's a small company, so not too many people all over the place - working by yourself a lot since everyone is pretty spread out and works on an independent schedule - adjusting to the lab environment since certain individuals have a very distinct style of research and have been there for a really long time
