Pros

- Great people to work with - Good sticky product - honestly cant think of anything else

Cons

- Most of the 5 star reviews are from new employees and are pushed by the CEO so that the overall rating is near 4. - any new product launch takes so much time compared to competitors which stems from C-suite inexperience on strategy. Good resources get frustrated and leave after sometime. - OKRs : Almost a month goes into OKRs each quarter which is ridiculous. I have used OKRs in the past but the CEO thinks himself as an expert on it lol. Even google doesn't spend this much time on OKRs. - Performance management is a joke. please dont call yourself a meritocratic organization when the promotions are decided on your equation with the Team lead and CEO and not on your actual work. - Work from office is being pushed so be careful about WFH on their job positions. - Hardly any equity to anyone below manager level - Any candidate reading this review pls do talk to people who left in the last 1 year for actual perspective about the culture and company - below market pay and bonus is also negligible.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your time with Plooto, and I would like to clarify some misconceptions. Plootonians can work from anywhere, and they will continue to work from anywhere. We have Plootonians in California and BC—they work from home, without offices. We have an office in Toronto should anyone want to participate, and some certainly do, but no one is forced to come in. We wouldn’t even have enough desks! We believe in providing flexibility as the nature of work is rapidly changing. As a scaling start-up, we are continuously improving our processes. We finalized our most recent quarterly OKRs in three half-day sessions; this did not take months. We recognize that OKRs can be difficult to grasp, and we give our people the time and space they need to understand them. As a merit-based culture we need to take OKRs seriously. Unlike some companies, our Objectives and Key Results are 100% metrics-driven. They build a shared vision and help guide what all Plootonians should be focused on. Our product launches take the time they need to ensure we provide value to our customers. We don’t crunch, work long hours or weekends to ship something that doesn’t meet anyone’s standards. And I will say, our Engineers have an exceptionally strong retention rate at Plooto. They are exceptionally talented, and we are thankful they are here. In fact, all our people are incredibly talented, and we are thankful that they chose to be here. We reward our people based on merit and provide radical candor to ensure areas of improvement are clear if they aren't ready for promotion; this shouldn't be a surprise. Salaries are based on market data to ensure internal and external equity and our total rewards, including bonuses and options, are not below market. And yes, we certainly do encourage Plootonians to write glassdoor reviews about their experience (regardless of tenure). However, we do not force anyone to write one, nor do we incentivize anyone to do so. We encourage Plootonians to speak up and provide direct, rapid feedback. We want potential candidates to have multiple data points to make a reliable decision themselves instead of just seeing a vocal minority online. Thank you for your time with Plooto. We truly do wish you success in finding a better fit!

Pros

Some great non-management employees Remote with option for in-person office Social events to try and meet other teams

Cons

The company moves incredibly slow due to always trying to prove that what you want to do is the absolute best thing to do, and this process takes MONTHS of internal debating. Whether you’re Marketing, Engineering, Finance, etc No matter how much data you have, how much research you’ve done, how many users say something, you’re always trying to justify your position and ultimately if management debates it and doesn’t approve it then it doesn’t move forward Due to that literally nothing gets done at this company. I can’t say I’ve seen anything new of value launch in the entire past two years and it’s evident by their website Management also has a style for berating employees over everything and it’s extremely evident in the amount of turnover that happened. Just look at the Marketing team and how every year this team changes leadership and staff because no one wants to stay The culture is also bad across many teams. It’s almost like no one wants to help each other and every team has it out for the other

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear your time with Plooto wasn’t a great fit. Our 4th Leadership Principle states that Plootonians move with purpose and insist on the highest standards. This means we are methodical in our decision-making process; we turn ambiguity into clear outcomes, which can take time. We are not one of those companies that throw things at a wall and hope they stick. This is in part why we can continue to grow responsibly while other companies are unfortunately going through layoffs. Some decisions may take months to make when they warrant it. Most decisions however do not take months when they are backed by data, facts, and follow internal processes. Plooto is not for everyone; we stick to our leadership principles and don’t let egos get in the way of decision-making. We debate ideas, align on an outcome and move forward. This is one of the ways we build a meritocracy. Another way in which we don’t let egos get in the way is through collaboration. Plootonians help those around them succeed. No task is beneath anyone, and we are committed to each other’s growth and success, and our engagement survey data back this up. Thanks again for your feedback; we hope you have found a better fit.

Pros

- They're part of a great incubator in Toronto that's called OneEleven - Some of the smartest people has invested in Plooto

Cons

- Hamed (the CEO) is the worst type of leader you could ever work for; he lacks respect for most of his employees, he shouts at his employees. The most awkward times are when he's screaming at his co-founder in front of everyone in an open space incubator with other startups. He micromanages because he doesn't believe people can do their jobs properly. This culture and attitude has flowed down to the other employees. It is not a good working environment. - Pay. Underpaid, undervalued, overworked. Plooto pays well below industry average. No matter what they say during the recruitment process, there is no rapid growth. It was a very rare achievement to get any type of promotion, raise, or positive feedback. He promised one of the employee shares as part of the compensation package and it took him 2 years to deliver. Hamed is not a man of his word. - Hours. Being shamed for leaving before 7pm or for taking your lunch break away from your desk is an unhealthy work environment and becomes so draining that it affects your personal life. There were times where someone had to bring air mattresses in because he had too much work to do. You're expected to work about 60 hours but you'll still be paid based on a 40-hour work week. It's sold as the 'entrepreneurial spirit!!!'. Pay your employees more and give them flexibility in their working hours and they’d be more willing to work longer hours. PLEASE do not work here. I had many personal and mutual friends message me because of job openings, and all I could say was RUN. I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy.
