Helpful coworkers but poor equipment and communication issues
Pros
Everyone I met seemed very helpful and super easy to get along with. I was super excited when I joined.
Cons
When I arrived I dealt with broken and mismanaged equipment. The survey rod I was provided my first week was clearly bent at the top. My back sight lense was also somehow bent. They had their guys load and prep my truck which seemed nice. However they left tribrachs not in the case and just sitting on the back seat and I didn't have all the equipment I needed. The first week I was with an employee who was helping me get learn their systems and get up to speed. So I took his advice, then I was sent out with another employee who did things not even remotely the same and seemed suprised when I told him. Clearly they had issues with communication and leadership. I had to make time for my training videos since I wasn't given any. Also the chargers didn't work so my equipment was dying and then they finally gave me a reliable charger. Despite all of this I showed up early and tried to complete projects as best as I could. They then said THEY felt they were lied too and thought I wasn't trying. Meanwhile I witnessed another crew hiding in the parking lot playing on their phones to kill time so they weren't back too early. I have experience and the work I was doing was all things I previously doing. I am not a mind reader, I just wanted to grow, learn, and provide high quality work as quickly as possible.
