Pros

I do not have any positive things to say about Postmates, except for the fact that I was employed and paid on a regular schedule.

Cons

The company wastes money left and right. CEO loves to spend money like it's going out of style. Restock groceries for the office? Let's dogfood and pay a courier delivery + large tip for paying retail rate, instead of having a catering company do it at a much lower cost. On top of that, only have the couriers buy junk food for the office. Yum! Love me some diabetes. Training is very inconsistent and almost nonexistent. There is no consistency between one person and another's training styles or the messages they try to get through. There is no real formal policy on how to handle anything. Just know that if you're doing something that's been accepted as the norm, the CEO can just hop in the chat and change it just because a bad customer tweeted about it. We are told by the CEO to deactivate couriers for even the slightest error. If a courier is not on duty right on time for their shift, it's usually grounds for termination. If a courier is tweeted about in a negative way, no investigation is made - they are guilty as charged and immediately terminated. We are frequently emailed to take time out of our days off to help out with the workload because we aren't allowed head count. Time off requests are repeatedly denied, even when made in advance. Company culture does not exist. It's paid for by an outside branding agency and is only for show to other employees during Town Hall meetings. Couriers are treated like third-class citizens, and Customer Service even worse than that. Everyone who isn't in the real corporate team is treated as expendable and brain-dead. Initiatives never meet deadlines, keep getting pushed back, and then cancelled. Job reviews don't happen. The higher-ups in the company treat anyone below them like complete trash, and that trickles down. The managers and leads treat the rest of the team like crap, the full-timers treat the part-timers like crap, and the part-timers treat the couriers like crap.

Pros

Fun to say I work at Postmates

Cons

This company has the potential to have a bigger marketshare but postmates is held back by leadership who does not know how to treat its people right. IPO is near but all of my coworkers know our company will be destined to be the next Blue Apron. While the CEO is the reason for all of the internal issues. Those who reports directly into him lacks empathy and does whatever they can to please the CEO. This company doesnt care about the bottom line. The amount of things I witnessed at this company is appalling, everything from the innappropriate things the CEO says during looking glass to being berated by management over trivial matters. I noticed that those who are brought into management are favored not due to their hard work and qualifications but favoritisms and their connections to the CEO. You will see friends and family being hired into key positions. Don’t expect to earn a promotion or receive a respectable raise here. In my time here, I’ve seen bad turnover unlike other tech startups Is this setting up an employees for success or the company to fail with so many employees leaving. Turnover is bad. The lovely people you meet during your initial rounds of interview will be gone in a matter of months and you will be left in the dust. Working at Postmates was one of the most taxing thing I have ever done in my career. I have worked at many startups in the past but Postmates is the one that identifies most closely with the Wild Wild West - management have created a working environment dominated by politics and fear. My team learned not to speak up against management because they Are hearing impaired. I’m not sure how much longer I can work for such a toxic place disguised as a company
