Pros

Because it's a salon you get flexible scheduling. Most major holidays you were off or had a short day. Fellow receptionists and techs were super nice. Dress code was super chill and you got discounts on product and services. Got to participate in fun company events such as the PR Awards Show. Fun product knowledge classes you can listen in on.

Cons

I worked at the Tyson's location so I can't speak for all locations but management is the worst. They openly pick favorites and will lie to your face with a smile. Extremely cliquey. They talk and gossip about everyone which makes it hard to come to them when something is wrong. They worked me like a full-time employ for a year before changing my status. When I needed a second job they retaliated by cutting my hours even more. They'll lied about giving me a promotion only to act like they never offered it. I was threatened with termination after I called out for an anxiety attack. Also don't bother giving your two weeks notice as you'll be told to just leave.

Pros

-classes are provided -PTO can be made

Cons

Probably the worse salon I have ever stepped foot in. The Partner is immature, passive aggressive, overall does not care about what goes on inside her salon and is much more concerned with stacking her book with appointments. Shampoo techs are consistently being hounded and verbally abused by stylists and management refuses to do anything. If an assistant speaks up about the verbal abuse, stylists will sit in the break room and talk about how they don’t care because they pay us so we have to deal with it. Not to mention the discrimination when it comes to dress codes, stylist can wear club attire and have their butt hanging out and basically be naked but the moment an assistant shows a little bit of midriff they are being threatened to be written up. But again, nothing will be done because the stylist is simply “trying to make her tip” as if the salon is a strip club. So many people quit when i first applied to this salon and now it’s clear as day why they did.

Pros

You can get your hair done.

Cons

The level of nepotism towards grossly incompetent employees is disturbing. The amount of unethical and borderline illegal practices is also disturbing, and it won't be long before this company is involved in a lawsuit with the way they are headed. Spare yourself and work somewhere where the owners have more dignity within themselves and their business.
