Pros

work-life balance, Good place to start your career.

Cons

Underhanded management tactics. Always dangling an unreachable carrot in front of you. Each employee, including management made to fight for themselves rather than work together. Team play is said to be encouraged but a back-stabbing, self preservation mentality is the reality. You are only a number and money is all that matters. They do the minimum to pretend to their U.S. parent company that they are looking after their employees welfare and needs.

Pros

Occasionally allowed to work from home Great for the local economy, however being the biggest NGO's in town, the certainly exploit their position and get away with paying staff peanuts.

Cons

Awful awful pay - Helpdesk Rep which is considered the entry position is 19500 Euros (Barely above minimum wage). Very very little chance of development unless your father is a friend of your managers family. Inexperience managers mates got promoted before me to an associate analyst (23500... WOW!) Also, this company is a subsidiary of Prudential, a US insurance giant. Outsourcing offshore is ever increasing, and Irish positions are dwindling. HR said just before I left that it is up in the air whether there will even be a Pramerica in Ireland in 2 years!!!

Underpaid and overworked.

Pros

Being able to work from home occasionally was useful. The work experience has thankfully led to a better position within a better company.

Cons

Promises of promotions, pay rises and better planned projects never materialise and you just suffer through the same continuous loop of being overworked, underpaid and having management milk you for all you are worth in order to meet their own targets. Then they take it upon themselves to downgrade your awarded bonus at the end of the year to encourage you to work harder.
