Pros

Free wine which you can drink while your manager berates you for crying due to overwhelming work expectations and inappropriate work behavior.

Cons

I could spend time writing about my experience and issues at Precept Wine, but it would simply be a repeat of the reviews you see below. I could also spend time writing advice for management, but they pass these reviews for entertainment amongst teams for gossip instead of using them as a learning opportunity to improve the workplace. This review is to directed to anyone applying or considering accepting a job at Precept Wine. It is not worth it. The pay is not close to competitive, you are on call 24/7 including vacation or sick leave, and you are taught that unprofessional and even illegal practices are required to be successful in today's business environment. If you are applying to an entry level position, please know the ethics and environment you will be exposed to will not help your professional future, and your experience will be niche and difficult to apply to other industries. If you are applying to upper management or executive level positions, please know that you will likely quit within the quarter or be fired for not supporting the select few Precept Wine decision makers. I know that working in wine sounds fun, but please take the reviews for Precept seriously as are not from a few disgruntled employees, but entire teams that have left the company after realizing how toxic it is.

Pros

can't think of a single one. after knowing what i know there really aren't any pros in this company. and that includes the people running it.

Cons

the executives expect their employees on all levels to break compliance, real estate, liquor and building code laws. if you push back or mention that it isn't right or that what they are asking you to do is illegal. you can count down the days until you are fired. they fire employees for the doing things exactly the same way that upper management does them, but those employees never get punished or fired. its the biggest lie and worst wine company hypocrisy i've ever seen. having been in the wine industry for decades, i was excited to work with a large corporate wine company. the problem is, the people running it don't know anything about the industry. they don't value the people that work for them and they set impossible and ridiculous amounts of work on their employees. they come up with the most ludicrous ideas and expect them to happen in a weeks time, but don't actually train anyone on how to do their jobs. if i could give no stars i would. they will come up with any excuse they can not to pay you your earned bonuses, including firing you so that they don't have to. if you work for these guys i suggest running as fast and far away as you can.

Initial Opportunities, Toxic Environment

Pros

Many roles are undefined so you can be part of the process of creating them. Upward mobility is possible with hard work.

Cons

Several of the newer positive reviews on Glassdoor were added by people who were asked directly by their managers to provide positive reviews to bring up the overall score. That level of dishonesty is only the beginning. Management is toxic and constantly moves the goal post. The CEO is narcissistic and inappropriate with many female employees. The mantra is about building relationships but that only seems relevant when it benefits the executive team, and that can change on a dime.
