Stagnant due to the economy

Pros

The benefit package is pretty good, and the local management team is great. We all get along well. There's freedom to do things, the micro-management grip has loosened a little bit. The local team is very tight, and we work together well, succeeding despite the constraints.

Cons

Poor communication between Upper management and the local team. No vision in the healthcare package. Increased responsibility and duties, but the pay has remained the same (frozen) going on 3 years now. The loss of bonus has actually sent me back in overall compensation while the costs of benefits has increased for same or slightly lesser quality. One must seek more than material compensation to find fulfillment here. Local team stays because of ties to eachother, and we succeed because we are loyal to one another.

Pros

Union employer: good for those that like giving money away or have behavioral issues Benefits offered on day one

Cons

Irregular work available. Could work one day and be off for the next 8. Depending on how orders come in. Union leadership is oblivious to the benefits offered by HQ. During contract years expect inflated promises, just like elections. Trainers showing new folks how to do the job will go too fast. While you're catching up, they sit on butt and play phone games. This is not training. You will stink like wet dog every day. The water through the plumbing is NOT potable and will make you sick. Bending tanks are brimming with bacteria, mold and other water dwelling organisms. Talc is used heavily as a clearing agent in the extrusion heads and blown about with air hoses. Have a mask handy if you are going to have kids.

Pros

Pay is high for the area.

Cons

High cost Medical. No career advancement opportunities unless you are willing to wait a decade or two to gain seniority. Management will ignore harassment and misconduct of certain employees if they consider them too valuable to lose. Will just laugh at you and tell you to let it go, keep your head down, and don't say anything. Advice to anyone new going to work there: look around and see how everyone else is working. Watch what they do, how they do it, and more importantly, watch how much they do. Everything goes by seniority, so working harder just means that they will put more work on you while letting lazy people get away with doing less. Keep your options open and save your money for the day that you cant take that place anymore and have to walk away. Good Luck
