Pros

Free/dollar tickets to most shows

Cons

For a non-profit that claims to benefit the community, Proctors Collaborative has a very tribal and intolerant culture. If you do not act and behave like the collective, you are made to feel like an outsider. If you do things differently because of your different exposure, people around you get insecure because it highlights their lack of exposure. They make a big show of diversity and inclusivity, but have zero minority representation in their senior management. And they do not believe in training their employees or giving time to learn. The work atmosphere is too unprofessional, verging on lackadaisical. Their marketing and HR are weak and incompetent.

Pros

I was hired as a response to the issues this organization has been having internally with race relations and discrimination.

Cons

They don’t actually care to fix, they just want to look like they’re fixing it so I really had nothing to do. Discrimination is evident in the lack of diversity among leadership and a push to put Black and disabled employees in low wage positions despite their experience or education. Minorities are expected to join a diversity group that is really just marketing tables at events that celebrate certain groups that they expect you to do without pay. Also the pay structure doesn’t allow overtime until after 42.5 hours which is not compliant. Departments that oversee costumes and stage design are also not being paid properly- they are salaried when they don’t qualify as such to avoid the cost of hourly work during peak seasons. Overall I wouldn’t recommend.
