Pros

You learn to take ownership of your projects. If you want something done right, you have to either do it yourself or come up with the most efficient process that you can and stick to it. It's easy to prove yourself at first. If you're like me and don't care if people like you or dislike you, you should be fine.

Cons

This is a very unhealthy work environment. I actually agree with one of the reviewers (see "No Hope Here") on many things. No structure, no efficiency processes, very inexperienced employees fresh out of college, lacking in organization (especially in sales), and lots of overhype. They have a Boys Club culture. The leadership is usually dismissive of issues with sexism and sexual harassment. Document, document, document and consult with a labor lawyer if you need to. The CEO is not very professional and he enjoys trying to intimidate employees that he perceives to be weak. If you have thick skin and you are good at what you do, this is less likely to be an issue for you, but you will definitely see it happen to your coworkers. He also micromanages and inappropriately shares information about certain employees with other employees. If he does not change his behavior and attitude, he could potentially ruin the company. The rest of the management team needs to learn to put their foot down with the CEO.

Pros

Very easy to pick up skills as lack of leadership forces ownership of dead end projects Wonderful place to work if you're a recent college grad with no experience or self respect If you're a "Yes Man" or one of the boys, you'll fit right in. Belief and support of CEO's spin on the company and spouted drivel will get you far. Embracing long hours with no OT and low pay will guarantee you a promotion of useless title. If lack of job stability is what you desire, this is the place for you

Cons

No structure and no process's implemented which means everyone works harder, not smarter. CEO is a former politician with the skill of turd polishing. The client services team lack professionalism and appear young and inexperienced on calls. Many products and services offered are complete scams. No efficiency in any area. Everyone talks at each other not to each other ,no one is on the same page and everyone is quick to point the finger of blame. The office is predominantly men, the only female with a title is a glorified office manager. The sales team lacks direction and structure, the director of sales lacks organization. No one is paid well especially considering the amount of work put in(it is expected you arrive fifteen minutes early and stay at least 15 to twenty minutes late) . Hours are longer than an average office. Company is full of entry level college graduates who have no experience in the corporate world and are not aware of the proper procedure for addressing situations. It does not matter if you have experience in your department, it will not transfer over as it matters not if you know the way to do it, it only matters if you do it the PDN way. Speaking of PDN way. there really isn't one. The company's direction is dictated by the CEO who runs everything on a contingent basis. This would be expected for a start up,but PDN has been around for years, yet still has not generated revenue based on its performance alone. The CEO micromanages everything, he lacks effective listening skills and is more focused on hyping up non existent products/projects or as they like to say "selling air". No HR process's are observed. Complaints against co workers regarding inappropriate behavior(they let an alcoholic employee strut around the office in a disruptive manner)and sexual harassment are easily dismissed. The CEO also feels it is necessary to inform select employees of termination of other employee's based off of personal like or dislike(he took three employees on a stroll to inform them of a mass layoff). The upper management has a sexist attitude, easily dismissing relevant issues. There is no room for innovation or efficiency, again everything is immediately dismissed if not cohesive with the "PDN way." My outlook for this company is bleak. If the CEO does not learn to take a back seat and reformat the company correctly, it will not last long, merger or not.
