Pros
Staff Discount. Most of the store floor staff are nice people.
Cons
Worked for this company for 3 years as a member of the sales floor staff. While there can be a good vibe in the stores themselves, what comes down from the 2 directors of the company makes this company an absolute joke to work for. Utterly racist, homophobic, sexist, disrespectful and just downright impolite. I had multiple run ins with these, and I’ve never felt so disprespected and for as an employee. Some of their marketing tactics are so distasteful, I literally couldn’t believe my eyes sometimes. I advise anyone looking to work here, be very, very careful. What should be a really great job and company (if they changed the awful name) is ruined by poor management at the very top. I was seen as quite a respected employee among my peers (in store and other stores) but never once got any acknowledgement of my hard work from the top, who seem to think if you have a poor spell or need some help, the best route is intimidation as soon as possible. The directors seem to enjoy buying all their products for cheap, and are renown in the sales industry for being absolutely horrendous to work with due to the pressure they put on other companies. This mantra is evident in the way the company runs, as everything is ‘cheap as chips’. Awful website, slow and unresponsive. Downright terrible till and stock systems (from 2002) which could be all be fixed with a little investment. Little to no health and safety also. No opportunities to progress unless you make the ‘big bucks’ - which says a lot about the kind of people they are. Yes you need to make money, but you also need to look after your employees and create a positive working atmosphere. And that’s basic buisness, which they obviously fail to recognise. I mean, it took 2 years for me to get a copy of my signed contract...!? Overall let down my very poor management, marketing and overall design. I feel if the directors could just feel an ounce of love, maybe they’d pay their employees correctly, invest in proper systems and be a little more ‘modern’, they could maybe pass as an ok company to work for.
