Pros

Great experience. Looks great on your resume. You learn a lot of people skills.

Cons

Too much Gossip. Co - Workers are obsessed with each other. Hard for people to let go. Pay is way too small for the amount of duties.

Solid company to work for, dependable, good health care.

Cons

Politics, quick to make judgments, hiring only young people. I perceive ageism at work.

Amazing mission, but major gap between front line staff and executives

Pros

PRI has such a wide network of programs and services and it is a real force in homeless services in the NYC area. Mr. Netburn was an amazing addition to the executive team and has shown real purpose in his hiring of new managers and as the CEO. The mission is clear and well communicated throughout the agency.

Cons

If you're not in housing you can feel a bit like one of the forgotten stepchildren in terms of attention, support and access to resources. While new management hired under Mr. Netburn have all proven to be innovative and strong, the old guard is just that. They are not open to change, they don't appreciate the front line staff, and they can be incredibly negative about the population and the agency's ability to effect change. Also, the pay gap between frontline staff and management is absolutely ridiculous. Staff are not earning livable wages but assisting clients to move toward independent housing.
