Pros

I worked at Propeller for about 18 months, and loved every minute of it. The people are really down to earth and pragmatic, no egos or awkwardness. The company prides itself on hiring for diversity and as a result of this, you're met with this huge family of very unique quirky people who just seem to thrive because of the open culture. It's a really challenging industry, and the team are pushing the boundaries a lot, but it was always "us vs the problem". I think it's because everyone cares about the same thing - almost everyone talks to customers on a regular basis. Like, daily. They're mates. I can guarantee you'll be working with very smart people who learn and adapt fast, and you'll have fun (lots of events, amazing food). More than all of this, Propeller has a "cold fizzy water" tap in the kitchen - I miss that tap even more than I miss the team.

Cons

The Sales and Marketing teams are based in the US. So if you're in a role where you're going to need to work directly with those teams, make sure it fits well with your personal life (family, etc). As the organisation has grown, the chasm between the continents (and consequently Product<>GTM) seems to have been quite challenging. This improved a lot in the last 3 months of when I was there, after they consolidated the leadership team to C-Suites who could keep things tight.

Pros

I've been at Propeller for a few yrs now. Sometimes after a while, the hype and excitement of a new company wares off... that hasn't happened to me yet. With so much happening to our product and the team constantly growing, it's been a wild adventure for the past few yrs. Biggest pros would be: - the team/people. Great humans who are dedicated to their craft but are also just up for a laugh - the product itself. It's so awesome being a part of something that's really making a difference for our customers and is so unique in the market - really transparent. Never worked anywhere before where we get told so much about what's happening at Propeller eg capital raising, new feature releases, challenges we're facing etc

Cons

An oldie, but a goodie... Timezones. If you're not careful, it's easy to be online longer than you should be. With teams in four major timezones, you just need to be good at ignoring your slack before or after hours

Pros

Propeller is made up of a some incredibly welcoming and super smart people, who are never hesitant to lend a hand or have a chat. They make you feel like part of the family from day one. Leave your ego at the door, there's no petty competition here. Everyone is genuinely supportive of each other and you really get a sense that everyone is working towards the same goal.

Cons

Fairly loose work structure means a lot of figuring things out as they go. Be prepared for lots of experimenting and changes as the company finds it's legs and figured out the best way to get things done. Flat hierarchy means you're expected to step up, work independently, and be self-driven. The culture is friendly, but at the end of the day, you have to be driven, passionate, and good at what you do.
