Good People, Good Product, Frustrating Workplace
Pros
- The people here were all very kind and seemed to genuinely care about employee morale - Generous stipends when traveling - "Startup" feel (even though company is older) - Generous PTO - Product is by far the best on the market - more or less sells itself - Lower level management is very nice and easy to get along with
Cons
- Poor communication between management and other employees - Artificially established hierarchy that results in employees needlessly left out of meetings and decisions that have direct impacts on their positions - Pay that is considerably below industry average combined with a weak benefits package - Ideas from lower level employees are ignored, and important responsibilities are often hoarded by upper level staff, resulting in poor workplace efficiency and lack of day to day tasks for lower level employees - Was promised many benefits in the interview that never happened, and no plans were in place to bring those claims to fruition at the time of leaving - Very high turnover in the marketing department, as ideas are often rejected in place of "better" ideas from senior management (and are almost always worse) - Felt like an office assistant who was handed off work that others did not want to do - Self-stated hiring process in which management does not want to hire in professionals with experience, as they do not want to give up any power to anyone else, and would rather do the job themselves and hire in solely inexperienced new grads under them - results in an incredibly apparent lack of knowledge and experience in many key areas that are necessary for growth - No direct deposit - Way too many racist statements and offensive comments made about the LGBT community by the senior management, as well as inappropriate questions regarding employee sexual history - This job is good for entry into the industry, a bit of experience, and not much else.
