Don't trust Amit

Pros

The software team in Carmel is amazing and has great people.

Cons

The direction of the company isn't decided so decisions are quickly changed as to the direction of the product. Amit Jain is an incompetent leader and a liar. He will do whatever it takes to make the LPD market successful even when the technology is already outdated and so niche that there is barely a maret for it. Once Prysm goes completely under, don't trust Amit as a leader in his next endeavor.

Pros

Office location without a doubt. Diamond District used to be a marquee address until a few years ago and still retains some of its sheen. Houses NASSCOMM, the apex Software body and many other innovative startups within its premises. Centrally located with easy access via metro.

Cons

Oh boy...where does one begin!!! To say that Prysm Bangalore is anachronistic would be letting it go for murder. One does not have to look further than the manager-engineer ratio to get a sense of what is wrong with this place. A bunch of has-been washouts who have made their money have turned this place into a happy retiree club for friends and family. That would still have been pardonable had there been a workforce that churns out actual work but sadly, that never quite materialized. The acute insecurity among this so called "leadership" in Bangalore has resulted in unsustainable levels of politics and favoritism. Old faithfuls seem to coast through crisis to crisis while the gullible newbies bear the brunt of the inefficiency of this self-serving leadership. A tendency of appropriating credits for whatever precious little good happens while pushing the failure out unto unsuspecting team members is highly prevalent among the management. It never quite became apparent what exactly was the Bangalore software division meant to do; was it to harness cheap labor to get donkey work done or do any actual innovation would probably be never known. If it was the former, the management didn't ever do anything decisive about it. If it was the latter, then well, the story never even began. That the software division in Bangalore has been severely cut-down in this funding crisis even though several statements were made by people in the know that "nothing will happen in Bangalore" is a testimony of the many half truths and fabrications that were bandied about over the last many years.

A Painful Story

Pros

Extremely intelligent, talented and dedicated teams throughout the company. Provided work life balance and good technology

Cons

From the beginning it was clear there was no fiscal responsibility, lack of direction, clouded vision and no accountability throughout the company. Unqualified leadership not willing to make tough decisions to drive the company forward. No benchmarking, no analytics defining risk or success factors and off the cuff business decisions causing nothing but negative consequences. What was once a vibrant, exciting and amazing place to work sank when Sales sold an unrealistic bill of goods. Not only bad hiring but uncharted massive hiring spurts in ALL BU's in the last 2.5 years without the POs to support such an extreme hiring frenzy (friends, college roommates and unqualified same ethnicity at the highest levels) Sadly what needed to happen should of taken place over 2 years ago but the ruse continued and most of the talented staff have moved on.
