The typical day at work is running around severely understaffed (very common) trying to cover all corners of every job in the cafe imaginable. Management lacks management skills and leaves staff feeling overwhelmed and unsupported due to head office barely letting in-store management decide what is best for their team.
I have witnessed homophobia in the workplace many times and when HR was told about it they did nothing but tell everyone to brush it under the rug and move on. Consistently disappointing responses from the QD HR when very serious issues were brought up making the staff feeling helpless and alone in hard situations.
The staff all try very hard to cope on what little support we had. The only thing that kept us all going was each other. Its just really sad that we all felt abandoned and brushed aside by the head office constantly.
