I have been working at QVC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

While their are cons at every company, QVC really does have a great company culture, something that I feel is exceptionally important when picking a role. People are nice to work with/for and their is a shared company goal.

    Cons

Can be difficult to advance your career depending on what department you work in due to the structure of the business.

I worked at QVC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice office. Fun and exciting events are offered.

    Cons

Can feel like high school. People tend to have a group mindset and bullying others is not uncommon.

    Advice to Management

Managers need to establish loyalty to their team members. Also, have witnessed managers engaging in gossiping to not only team members but other senior managers. Emotional intelligence is lacking.

      I worked at QVC full-time

      Pros

Very nice facility, team oriented, family like environment.

      Cons

Being micromanaged and to be constantly reminded to lower call times if you don't meet the minimum amount of time the calls can be.

I have been working at QVC full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

The work environment is great, and pretty laid back. The company attracts a lot of good people to be around and work with. The facilities are nice and they are modernizing more each year. Within my group there's always been a nice ebb and flow of crunchy challenging work and a more eased relaxed pace. Not every development group's experience is the same but that's the general tone of the place.

      Cons

Some of the tech platforms are older and not upgrading anytime soon. There's a mix of modern solutions and legacy platforms that aren't retired yet. As a large company where most actions can impact day to day sales there's a lot of caution towards trying new things or doing anything that could impact the live site. The company appreciates passion but ultimately at the developer level you won't have much pull to make impactful...

      Advice to Management

Try to cultivate and hold on to your best and most passionate developers before they end up leaving.

I worked at QVC full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Good benefits, nice people, exploring new ideas

      Cons

Layoffs, quick changes in direction, not a lot of opportunities for advancement

      Advice to Management

Think about retraining rather than getting rid of people.

I have been working at QVC full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Great Co Workers, Supervisors Supportive, Multiple Seasonal Advancement Opportunity

      Cons

Back Stabbing Coworkers, Managers play favorites, Goals to strict, No room for Full time growth, Pay is much less than other Call centers in the area.

      Advice to Management

Trust your people. They have good ideas but you just brush them away and act like you know best.

I have been working at QVC full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

People are familiar with the company. Brand recognition is the only positive.

      Cons

Too many to mention. Actively laying off tenured employees. Directionless mess that can't compete in the industry. No commitment to technology path. Merger activity is not helping the situation.

      Advice to Management

Try to appeal to more than Liz and Elizabeth as they like to say. There are more people in the world other than middle aged women. Going to find the same customer in to other countries isn't helping either. Try to pick a technology and commit to it. Stop going with the flavor of the month.

I have been working at QVC full-time

      Pros

Some good people, ability to work from home.

      Cons

Dwindling sales, panic, confusion and constant rounds of layoffs, usually of tenured employees. Bonus program is set up with impossible goals. Once good benefits have eroded to average at best. Everything is based on EBIDA, so every time sales drop employees are laid off to offset costs, leaving more work for the survivors. Senior leadership has lost touch with the front lines.

      Advice to Management

Set realistic financial goals. Stop cutting employees just so you can tell stockholders you’re controlling expenses. People are spread thin and you’re compounding the problems. People are too afraid to bubble this up to leadership. The original culture that made QVC a leader is lip service now.

      Cons

The size of the company can make it hard to move with agility
