Pros

-Top tier benefits package -Opportunity to work with innovative and interesting hardware -Stability, the company isn't going out of business anytime soon they work for some of the largest healthcare companies -You get vacation days for working on weekends during travel trips -Smart people work there and you'll learn a lot -Potential to make senior dev in two years if you work really hard

Cons

-High workload -Devs handle everything when it comes to the product. Building, testing, installing and training customers. -Frequent travel trips which may require working 6 days a week for as much as 12 hours a day. -Travel could be a plus if you're the type but you won't have much time to explore your destination -No monetary overtime compensation -Devs (both junior and senior) will have to be on call 6+ weeks out of the year to handle emergency support situations -Military-esque work culture with talks of "going into the trenches" with your "family" when crunch time hits -Must work directly with customers

Pros

You will get some experience at QMSI, but you can get the same experience anywhere else for a lot less stress.

Cons

1- Extensive Travel Requirements: This position entails significant time on the road, with expectations of being away for over 30 weeks annually, which may pose challenges to work-life balance and personal commitments. 2- Leadership Deficiencies: There is a notable lack of effective leadership and managerial skills within the management team. 3- Challenging Work Environment: The company culture is often perceived as hostile and unsupportive, which can contribute to a demoralizing and stressful workplace atmosphere. Inquiries made in the chat rooms about various topics are often met with ridicule and derision, undermining a respectful and supportive learning environment. 4- Organizational Disarray and Lack of Support: The organizational structure is notably disorganized, complicating the learning process for new employees. 5- Financial Instability: The company is currently facing financial difficulties, raising concerns about job security and long-term viability. 6- The limited customer base we currently maintain is actively seeking alternative providers..

Pros

- This job will force you to learn fast and on your own. - Many developers are very nice and will answer most of your questions.

Cons

- Company structure is very old school. - They prey on software developers directly out of college as a way to hire those who have no experience with a well structured company (this allows them to practice non-common work place practices). - Software development best practices such as Scrum are no where to be seen. - Some upper level developers (also in management) are rude and have unrealistic expectations. - You will be expected to travel across the country with sometimes no warning for weeks at a time. - Travel amount will vary, but can easily become 50% of the year. - Pay is subpar for newly employed software developers, expect below the average pay for the area. - Gratitude for going above and beyond or providing exceptional work is basically nonexistent. - On work trips, expect to work upwards of 10-12 hours a day with no overtime pay. - Finally, the company makes you feel as though you are “a part of the family” and you don’t want to let the team down, to a point that they shame previous employees who decided to leave the company. This becomes a mental blocker for employees to not want to leave the company so that they don’t let the team down.
