Pros

The people at the Lexington office are some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The flexibility of hours is also really fantastic (again, in the Lexington office). Aside from those two things, I can't really say much else positive about Quantum.

Cons

The list is nearly endless and it all starts at the top. The upper management, especially the CEO, are all completely disconnected from the reality of the business. Benefits are essentially non-existent. Medical benefits are very basic with very high deductibles. Even with the HSA, you won't get much use out of their health insurance. No 401k match... They constantly emphasize that Quantum is the largest and most advanced geospatial company in North America, and yet they refuse to offer one of the most basic benefits from a company of this size. They do offer profit sharing, which is paid out to your 401k after a certain period of time, but the goals set to meet are extremely unrealistic and the payout is miniscule. There is also the constant feeling of distrust amongst the different offices and the upper management. You constantly have to cover your tracks and watch over your shoulder, because if anything negative happens on a project, the upper management will look for any way possible to blame it on the lower staff. It doesn't matter if the job was bid $100,000 dollars too low, or that the due dates are unrealistic during the busiest season of the year. If something goes wrong with a project, you can guarantee that it's the production staff's fault. There is absolutely zero accountability for the people with a name on their door.

Closing Offices, Offshoring Jobs

Pros

I cannot think of any pros left for working at this company.

Cons

The CEO announced this last Friday that an additional 70 individuals would be fired and two more office locations would be closed in the US to facilitate a "center" in India. This is a continuing trend as more and more Quantum Spatial US office locations are closed and jobs are cut. Many of the recent cuts were employees under one year, which should be a huge red flag for anyone considering a job offer.

Swirling the Drain

Pros

I can think of no positive things to say about this company. What was once a great company for which to work is no more.

Cons

Owned by an equity holding group who places profits above everything else, including employees, safety, clients, contracts, and producing quality product. The CEO is as detached from the company, its employees, humanity, life, and reality as one could possibly be. After two massive layoffs, and outsourcing of labor overseas, the CEO had the nerve to send a company-wide email asking employees to refer some of their "smart friends" to come work for this company. Another email touting 'good news all around' in the subject field detailed how two offices would be closed and the employees in these offices would be terminated in the final paragraph. There is confusion about what good news truly is, as well as confusion about communication between and among team members. Information is hoarded by most employees and management. Secrets abound between people who should be on the same page. I can think of no successful business model where this practice would ever be the case. Harassment and retaliation against employees who bring safety issues and bad management practices to middle and upper management is quite common.
