On a Quest to fail

Pros

I can’t think of any

Cons

If you are on a, “Quest,” to advance your career and station in life, please, take your talents and ferocity elsewhere! Outside of the founders, the CMO and CFO the remaining cast of characters have no business managing a company with sincere organic growth on the cusp of being bought. Sadly, the founders got duped into hiring the current CEO. His arrogance, intellect and insanely insecure temperament have led to the hiring of a CCO who proved to be even more feckless. Candidly, the only thing that will save this company from an implosion is if some unsuspecting CPG comes – in to save the day before the brand is found out. Between the buffoon-like antics of the CEO and CCO, it only makes sense that the internal workings of the company mimic their inability to get out of their own way! In my entire adult life, I have never worked for a company that makes a conscious effort to fail! In the end, if you have no conscious, value system or direction in life, Quest is the perfect stepping stone to building a career you never wanted. As the country enjoys a robust economy and full-employment, think long and hard before you make the mistake of joining a company that will never reap any career benefits. If you do not accept my opinion, do your own due diligence and you will find other employees who can corroborate my tale of woes!

Pros

The CEO seemed like a pretty cool guy. Employees were able to sit in on the filming of their Youtube videos, where the CEO would interview inspiring people.

Cons

This is what happens when a company grows amazingly fast but doesn't have a solid infrastructure or experienced management. Every single day felt like a complete crisis. The company is vastly understaffed for the volume of work they are attempting to achieve. Instead of hiring more people or taking on fewer projects, management would make employees pull 60-70 hour work weeks. Employees were all salaried, so they couldn't care less how many hours you were working. Management had zero respect for employee's personal time. Your personal phone becomes your work phone and you will get phone calls and text messages at all hours of the day every day of the week. I once went on a 30 min walk after I got home one evening, and left my phone at my house. When I returned, I had +40 missed work-related text messages. All my coworkers worked weekends -- 8-10 hours each day on the weekend was not unusual. There was absolutely no training for newcomers. I understand that sometimes it works best to learn on the job, however if that is the case newcomers need to have a few experienced employees around that they can get tips from. The most experienced person in the department I was working in had been there for 6 months.

Pros

Quest has a lot of potential to be a truly great company. The products are excellent and have a high satisfaction rate with customers.

Cons

Being a "newer" company really shows here. They've been around for 4 years now but still have not implemented company wide procedures in many areas of business. When there are procedures created they are not communicated thoroughly to all involved and even then there is no consequence for not following said procedures making the jobs of some of us insanely painstaking and sometimes impossible. There is no pay scale, etc. Your salary with Quest depends on what location you work at and who your manager is and has no direct relationship with how difficult your job is or how hard you work. There is nothing to be said for experience or seniority here. Managers are not accountable on a company-wide level. If you have an issue you report them to HR but, being that they've had no supervisor or manager training programs or seminars to enroll in, you almost feel like it's really Quest's fault and not the individual. Some of us cannot even get the proper equipment to do our jobs. This is a frequent issue in my department. An example is the printers. We only have access to a few small printers that we all share. These printers are not for high volume use and should not be in our office at all. We should be using large, industrial printers. It's not like Quest cannot afford the supplies and equipment we need. Yet when we tell our managers we need more ink for the printers we are told that we cannot order more currently because we need to save money. Same goes for other necessary supplies and equipment.
