Pros

Can literally get away with anything

Cons

No accountability, no supervision. Tons of other workers on their phones. People passing off obligations to other people. Refusing to work with people for little things. Basically a great job if you want $15 an hour cheap wages

Pros

For the most part very supportive colleagues, organized and coordinated efforts from upper management and good health benefits once you qualify. The rare company that seams to actually support and encourage diversity and, inclusivity. Not to mention Great Christmas events too!

Cons

I don't think anyone in this field gets paid enough. This is not the sole burdain of quest simply a larger societal issue of how little importance and financial support given to the disability aid sector and to the larger service industry. The emotional toll that it takes is not properly compensated. No amount of crisis debrief can repair the damage left by burnout, repeated trauma or even secondary trauma many employers feel. Sometimes the value of your work and what you provide is overlooked (maybe by your supervisor or by society) in the monotonony of daily living but I see and congratulate you all (even you reader who may be a potential candidate) on doing such a great job (on just being you)!

Pros

Good environment with management and most coworkers, organized schedule despite so many clients and staff to account for, being able to support clients in achieving their goals and improving their quality of life. Management is also understanding when you are using all behavioural strategies but there are still negative outcomes from clients. Not all agencies are understanding of this and some agencies will blame staff for client behaviours, but Quest understands that all staff are trying their best and are supportive of their staff.

Cons

The only con I have experienced with working for Quest, is their use of your personal vehicle as a resource for their company. Some clients have behaviours such as wheel grabbing or being aggressive or disruptive in the vehicle. Their policy states that you are not required to drive a client if you do not feel safe, but when working with individuals with disabilities, things can go from being safe to very unsafe in a matter of seconds. You are still expected to transport these individuals to their activities if there are no aggressive behaviours being presented before the drive, when in reality, behaviours that can be deadly for yourself and other drivers on the road can come out of nowhere with these individuals who have a history of vehicle related behaviours. There have been deaths in the disabilities field caused by dangerous vehicle behaviours (not from Quest that I know of yet, but other agencies in Lethbridge and around the world)
