Pros

Flush with cash, R3 is living large. Unnecessarily fancy offices all over the world with high flying, overpaid executives that sit around and do nothing. There are some truly smart people here that you can learn from and it is no doubt a great place to develop your career. A year at R3 is like three years at any normal company. If you got in 2019 or before, then you would have likely used R3 as a platform to set yourself up for the future. If you're looking at joining now, be warned that this company will likely cease to exist in the next 12 months.

Cons

Nepotism. CEO has surrounded himself with friends and family. Ordinary employees are held accountable while his buddies are not. There is one man who has had five different senior roles and failed in each of them, not to mention he lost £30 million at his previous firm before being fired, yet he is untouchable as he is the CEO's friend. There are many other examples like this which only serve to frustrate the rest of the hard working people here.

We’re sorry to read a review like this - you’re clearly very upset about some of the issues you mention above. We agree that our greatest strengths are our people and ability to develop here; we have truly smart people who you can learn a lot from (many of them experts in their fields). We do have to disagree with your comment on the mass exodus - less than 3% attrition is remarkably low. The majority of companies always see movement early in the year, so it is no surprise we are seeing some, especially considering the extremely low rate we experienced last year. We are sorry to read a review which seems so bitter and would always welcome you to come and speak to your senior managers about anything that is upsetting you.

Pros

Extremely smart and hard working colleagues with the potential to make an impact

Cons

Management lacks direction, compensation isn't tied to performance, stock option plan is weak compared to industry standards, and extremely high burn rate has the company headed for bankruptcy in 2020

Pros

- They use Kotlin - Good social enviroment, for like Friday drinks

Cons

- Bad management, I very rarely spoke with mine (once a month or so). - Poor engineering practices, diffuclt to navigate codebase, making small changes requires touching ~100 files. Tests are flaky, - Lack of strategy, the company entirely lives on the hype of blockchain - Cients of the product often don't really understand it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and I’m sorry your experience here at R3 hasn’t been such a positive one. I’ve spent some time discussing this internally, as much of your feedback was specifically about one team and I want our Leadership team to be aware of these reviews and people’s views, and continue to drive towards a positive culture throughout our business. We encourage all managers and employees to have (at least) a check-in every 2 weeks, and will continue to promote this, as communication and feedback is really important. We do encourage that anyone who feels they need additional time with their manager can always ask for it. All software and engineering practices evolve – at R3 we’re no different. We have invested heavily in testing, adding additional efforts in our Engineering teams, and have a separate QA team to make this more robust. P.S. Glad you enjoyed the social events and culture – we work hard at creating a positive environment our employees can enjoy while at work. Thanks. Kim Watkins Head of People Team @ R3
