Zero Accountability...

Pros

This used to be an awesome company to work for- the teams were awesome, the company invested in it’s employees, and for the most part, the clients were great. Sure you were underpaid and expected to work long hours at times, but the work environment made up for it. The products are great and undoubtedly have the best specs in the industry. Dogs at the office.

Cons

The president and founder at some point completely took their hands off the wheel and appointed a series of unqualified execs thinking that their consumer technology experience would be relevant in taking their company public. Instead they accomplished a series of terribly structured projects that lead nowhere and killed the companies internal culture in the process. At the heart of this team is a CRO who brought with him a litany of conflicts of interest and carried on a string of incredibly inappropriate office relationships (4 that were widely known of including HR). Ultimately however, it’s the leaders of the organization that ok’d this individual getting all the execs Teslas the same week they laid off a ton of people. It’s the same leaders who stood by and watched him gaslight an entire room full of employees denying one of his relationships and threatened to fire everyone in the room if anyone brought it up (he lives with that individual now). In short, the sheer lack of accountability at the top is rampant and beyond frustrating to watch as an employee. If you’re thinking of working here, know this: team culture has become actively discouraged, HR has and always will be only out to protect the organization rather than its employees- reporting any sort of inappropriate behavior by any higher up will get immediately repeated directly to the individual and you’ll likely get let go, “fire fridays” are very real and have been for years, and ultimately, you’ll never know where you stand in terms of job security. I’ve seen the hardest working, best employees get let go after working there for over 10 years for laughable reasons. You should also know that a majority of the positive reviews on here are fake. HR was asking specific people to write them after seeing how terrible the real ones were- this has even been corroborated by former HR employees who have since left the company.

Management is the Problem

Pros

Company is small enough that you create relationships with both customers and employees. Core of employees have a true passion for the industry and product. Decent benefits and work life balance (depending on what department you are in ). It is a global company, so you get chances to work with individuals from around the world. When things are good, the environment can be exciting and exhilarating.

Cons

Upper management seems out of touch with day to day operations and skills of employees. There is also a lack of shared vision and goals. Management also does not know how to lead employees. Frankly, there seems to be this inclination to blame the core of the employees for the company's woes, but none of that blame or responsibility ever seems to face management. Multiple times I witnessed sexism and racism, and homophobia. This was seen at every level of the organization. When HR did respond, it was tepid at best. Management is not friendly or encouraging to female leadership/talent. This is especially true when it comes to pay. The company's philosophy is to actually under pay its employees across the board, and this applies more so to female workers. Too many of the relationships that employees have with managers is toxic. Have heard multiple employees describe working here as being in an "abusive relationship". Witnessed multiple events where employees sabotaged success of events/sales/customer relationships by exhibiting petty, abusive behavior. Passive aggressive, micro management is the name of the game. And some of those that exhibit that behavior some how get championed and move onto better opportunities. Hiring practices hurt the company. The company keeps bringing in people who are not a part of the camera industry. The company provides minimal training and support. Older employees waste time and energy fixing the mistakes of newer employees who do not know how to engage with customers/use product.

A company that lost its soul

Pros

Nothing to add to this anymore.

Cons

Where to start? First and foremost, the management here is HORRIBLE. People become managers by kissing butt and taking credit for other employees work. Every few months or so there’s a random mass lay-off. So much so, that employees give it the term “RED Wedding” and “Fire Friday’s.” It’s not so fun knowing that there’s an axe above your head just waiting to drop. One exec literally said, “these idiots are all expendable. I could fire them all and find anyone else off the streets to do their job.” Seems like a nice work environment, huh? Every other department tells me they are miserable. Sales laid off a bunch of us, so they can focus only on resellers. Same for other departments. Support tells me their manager spends all day talking about Marvel movies, whisky and Apple, doesn’t care at all for their employees. Seems par for the course as the warehouse tells me the same things where they’ve also witnessed racism and sexism. I’ve talked to people that went to HR only to find out they don’t care at all either. I’ve also heard HR employees will create fake accounts to make fake reviews to try and keep the score up on here... sad. Instead of a profitable company, you have a company that makes cut after cut, losing great employees who are either fired or quit from the misery. This place used to be fun, eventful and exciting to work for. It has been poisoned by bad management that treat employees like trash and execs that make horrible business decisions causing the company to continue on a downward spiral. With the failure of the awful Hydrogen One I wonder what’s next.
