Pros

Most staff below management level are exceptionally talented - Service staff, projects staff and client relation staff were normally very talented with a wealth of experience, You can learn much from these people and your peers were always willing to help. Varied experience on a wide range of systems (Mostly Windows) - RockIT pretty much support anything that plugged into a wall, Which meant that even though you didn't get any training on how these things worked and the clients thought you were experts you do get to dabble with some interesting equipment. Quick progression to other departments (Due to high staff turnover) Staff can fairly easily move from the service team (Should they want to) this means that escaping from the service team is an option providing you put in the effort.

Cons

I worked for RockIT and whilst I left and wanted to say something on this page I refrained from doing so until I felt that I could objectively talk about my time there. I checked the site a couple of days ago and I noticed that one person left a negative review which accurately reflects the life in RockIT that I saw and the following 5-6 reviews were then all posted on the same day with Glowing 5 star's. When you look at the reviews its clear that someones noticed the negative review and a couple days later asked people to write positive reviews... the 14th of March was a good day for RockIT employees it would seem? This is just another side of the desperate attempt to cover the companies image when things don't quite go their way. Sadly this now means anyone reading the reviews can't trust the positive reviews because whether this is a reflection of their actual experience or simply the staff being asked to post positive reviews (which is probably pressure from above) it now only further displays that nothing means more to the company than its image. Its certainly a good way to make people who read this page ask questions. Cons? Very high staff turnover due to working environment - The experienced tend to leave quickly as they know what other jobs can be like, The inexperienced stick because it becomes normality (Myself included) or they become friends with peers and all want to work together to help each other make life better in the company. Little to No Training - In the team that I joined (Service) there was little to no training provided. Thats everything from technical training to systems the company supports (Or claims to) to simply how to use internal systems for the staff. The alternative to training was the internal system they used (internal development or IDEV) to highlight errors in peoples performance, claims that they would provide 'training' off the back of these highlighted errors was false and training was rarely ever provided and training that was provided was very informal with little to no documentation to support it. These would go on your record and a single mistake in a quarter would remove you from the running from any possible benefit that may have come your way. High Stress - The stress levels are unlike any job I've ever worked at, We were regularly asked to perform the impossible (or near to) and when you were unable to achieve this standard you were put on performance management. Sickness/Sick Days due to stress was something I saw often and staff even left signing off due to stress. The SLA's sold to clients were unrealistic in a number of cases and worsened considering staffing levels and distance from the business. Rules were placed on staff like 'If the client calls for you and your not on the phone you HAVE to take the call' That actually sounds like a very positive move until you realise that you receive multiple calls per hour meaning that your spending about 5 minutes on every ticket and can never truly focus on providing a good service to the clients your dealing with. Management - Management at most levels bordered on the pointless, Don't expect your manager to have your back. When the CEO wants answers they shrink and throw you to the wolves but don't worry because in a few days they'll praise you and it'll make you feel all warm and fuzzy again.

Pros

RockIT are a small to medium business MSP which means they will need you to do as much as possible. Definite skill gaps through out the company due to the nature of small business. Great way to cut your teeth if your starting out. If you have talent and are willing to do this job for a few months / years you'll be able to rise through the ranks quickly due to the high turn over of staff and get a better paying second / third line job at a different company willing to train and pay you appropriately.

Cons

Please be mindful of the positive reviews from all I've seen so far. Not a single person who has held a technical position has left a good review. I didn't want to leave a review on here that I feel RockIT deserved as despite the negative time I had, I did learn a lot there, but on seeing the blatant attempt to bring up the ratings rather then try and fix things there, I knew I had to leave something. I wish to echo some of the cons spoken about in other reviews left, and confirm the impossible work loads and the obsession of doing everything on the cheap to the detriment of quality for both employees and customers. No training for any of the products or technologies was ever provided. Noncompetitive salaries and a focus on taking on as many clients as possible regardless of if it was even supportable or manageable. Chronic historical under-staffing in all tech departments even up to the day I left.

Pros

Great people to work with and learn from. Lots of exposure to technologies so great for learning experience, not so great for a career.

Cons

Core values are what RockIT base there morality and ideals upon, these values push working as a team and always putting the clients first. It’s unclear if RockIT actually believes this or just uses it as a marketing ploy to bring in more staff and clients. They say all the departments work as a team but it seems like departments which directly bring in revenue such as the sales staff get much better benefits and praise when compared to other technical departments. The sales team will often attempt to sell big changes and projects to clients when they are unneeded, instead of putting the client first it’s about filling their pockets. By making these big sales they get prizes and awards but most other departments get nothing similar. The service team is always staffed lightly, seems like there’s just enough people on the department to just about manage the workload. The workload and responsibilities can become overwhelming at times due to stress levels and scrutiny from management as every aspect of your work is monitored with easily falsified KPI’s. This very often leads to high staff turnover, I have seen multiple staff start and then leave after a few weeks due to the stress. I did not have a single colleague at RockIT who felt this was their “career”, RockIT is seen more as a step into IT rather than a career path as any long term plans to stay are usually unrealistic due to the working environment and decisions from above. With all the stress from the technical roles at RockIT you’d believe the staff are well trained. This is also not true, there is no formal training. The service team are just expected to “pick it up” as they go along with their days, this often leads to frustration from Staff and clients alike as it seems we don’t know what we’re doing. When it comes to advertising for these roles people often see the promise of certificates and formal training which is 100% untrue as there is nothing in place for any form of training. The only training/advice I received was to “Get through more work”. I would never use a garage that never trains it mechanics to fix my car, so why is this the case with computers? All of the above gives signs that this is a high stress role, the management then have a “deal with it” attitude. They give no support or sympathy to the stress of the staff and only want results otherwise your useless in their eyes. This includes the CEO who tries to look like he cares for staff but this is just smoke and mirrors, there is no development to improve only pressure to perform. Any sick days or signs of stress are a sign of weakness at Rock. They don’t care about their staff no matter how many much they try and fake it on Facebook. RockIT have no leaders, since all leaders are tossed out if they do not follow the “RockIT” way. By reading through older reviews there is a pattern of staff turn over and under appreciation which has not changed in years. When constructive feedback is given about the company they take it as a personal slight rather than using the information given to them. You can also see clearly faked positive reviews with little to no detail given as to why the job is so fantastic, it’s clear RockIT care more about its public image than actually fixing any real problems.
