Pros

-Benefits aren't terrible. -Groundfloor workers and engineers are great. -Attitude of people executing work is upbeat and collaborative. -Get to work with some great technology. -There is some ability to rise in the company, but is extremely limited unless you'd like to make friends with people in powerful positions.

Cons

-Management doesn't understand the idea "be good at what you do and invest in it." (there are projects in there that are not even optics that are poorly invested in and not doing well). -Owner believes he has a right to own all of your time. -Executive team believes you should be on-call 24/7 and work OT no matter what due to poor planning or outside factors, no matter how many weekends or off-days you've already committed to the company. -Compensation is okay, but bonuses are a rarity, and daily wages for workers is only good if you're working a lot of OT. -Tons of favoritism among upper management. People are hired for positions they have no business of being in, but have friends in the right places. -Owner does not understand the idea of a work-life balance and has filled the company with people aligned with his philosphy.

Pros

Low Pay beats the unemployment line.

Cons

Cannot recommend this place as there is no job security so if you looking for a company with a career path, AVOID Rochester Precision Optics. The owner is looking for the cheapest person independent of the skill sets that an experienced person can bring to the company. They turn the staff over about every 3 years to keep the cost down so it’s appears to be a contract position in disguise. Brain drain you to teach management so they can stay in play.
