There were some nasty comments that I have decided to move way. Since my joining, I have been asked different questions, targeting my religion and culture. Some of the questions were: 1. What is your caste? 2. Why there are such things in your religion and culture. 3. Comments about the culture dressing targeting ladies. At first, I thought that this guy might be curious to know about my culture. But when these comments continued, I felt very uncomfortable with these questions. Slowly this guy began to underestimate my work and created a culture of anxiety and depression. He stopped me from talking to anyone outside my team but other team members could talk freely. So that was a double standard for me. When once I shared some medical issue in my family, he said, "“I don’t want to pretend that I care for your family”. How can one work in this kind of environment. I don't want to say but if someone is Chinese and belongs to a particular culture, then he/she will be welcomed in the CPE team. Or someone who run like a dog between different departments will be appreciated. Also it's hard to trust the higher management. As when the initial two remarks were made, I complained to the manager; no action was taken. They need to understand that when someone shared what had happened, some action need to be taken. I raised my voice against this behavior and faced the consequence as well. But I'm happy that I did what need to be done and HR team is aware of this racist behavior and it won't effect someone coming into the team. I really appreciated how the HR team handled the whole situation and can't forget how they said 'Shut-UP' to this guy three times in front of me. I have seen that a couple of good employees have been removed in the name of restructuring & politics.
