Pros

Great coworkers. Awesome holiday gifts. Good raises.

Cons

Soon even the money won't make this place worth it. Everyday is a struggle when your department is deliberately short staffed. People left and they were not replaced. The good news is that we have a lot of policies to process because of growth but we do not have the people bandwidth or enough time to deal with misguided producers to properly inform the clients of their options and to review the details of the policies. I would be fearful as a client of this brokerage for the C+ effort or service we provide in keeping them "protected." There will be another wave of mass exodus from this company for other organizations who won't burn out their staff until they quit.

Pros

There are nice people working there as it is a large company so had to be some good apples. And I did get paid. Since large, companies they work with may take the whole dept out for a holiday lunch.

Cons

Many. Tasks divided up into too few so that you do the same three things all day. In very beginning they had me doing the same letter all day long for days. You start to question a reason to live. Then they can treat you terribly if you advise you cannot be near any cigarette smoke or perfume emanating from a person that is tasked with training you. It is a bonifide health risk to breathe near anyway giving off third hand smoke and perfume carcinogens. After reporting to HR I was retaliated by an attempt at trying to humiliate me claiming there an odor by my desk and suggesting if I need to improve my hygiene. Uh no. But yes I could throw my cafeteria lunch remnants in the kitchen room trash instead of my desk pail. There was also bad seating position they gave me initially and also a false accusation involving a young PT worker. All in all this place belittled me before realizing, and I'm quoting, that I'm the best policy checker they ever had. I brought to attn of mgmt tons of policy errors. The dept was also months behind on work and employees were not well trained or knowledgeable in insurance, hence all the errors I had to correct. Too many people in a dept with only one manager.

Pros

The salary matches experience level.

Cons

The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing, or too many people touching the same item and noone realizes it. They do not use modern agency management processes or procedures. It takes ten steps to process what another agency will complete in two steps. I was often told to un-train my brain to think illogically to grasp their outdated methods of doing things. After specializing in process improvement, dumbing down myself to fit in was: 1- a waste of time, 2-not going to happen after I spent a career honing my skills to become a top tier insurance professional. There is no training at all. Most of my peers told me they played around with the system and figured out how to use it. They also admitted that they all do things differently. So management thinks there is consistency, but I was told and showed that it's a free-for-all with the "procedures". There was extremely high staff turnover while I was employed and in my short time there, the company lost two HR Directors. This should always be a red flag!
