Pros

The people you work with are wonderful, hardworking people, if they don't quit or get fired. Benefits are standard. Free Starbucks coffee.

Cons

CEO has a huge ego. His word is law. Upper management show very little respect for employees. If any one of them don't like you, you are fired. Managers are too busy and never have time to guide you. Depending on your position, you will be given an overwhelming amount of work and are expected to put in a lot of overtime, sometimes with short or no notice. Overtime is a metric on employee reviews. Unless you have been at the company for a long time, your work and effort go unrecognized. There is no team environment. If you are hired straight out of college, you are thrown in and it is "sink or swim." Many use exam dumps to get certified. College hires do not know any better and the company makes them think that this is how it is and you'll never find a better company. A lot of experienced hires will quit pretty quickly, if they are not fired for disagreeing with upper management. Very high turnover. Employees are asked to write reviews and give testimonials about how great the company is, but they are forced to lie. Read positive reviews with a grain of salt. Projects are undersold and lack direction, putting the pressure on employees to put in overtime without compensation. They only care about the money. You have to make this company your life goal if you want to succeed.

Avoid the application development department.

Pros

Friendly coworkers, great working conditions from a comfort standpoint, great management (except for the application development department)

Cons

Overbearing management for the application development department, most projects handed to you are already a month behind schedule and they expect the programmers to pick up the slack. Also watch out for all the positive reviews on this site, if you look at the dates posted you see that a lot of them are done on the exact same day, which is really suspicious.

Thank you for your feedback. We work hard as a company to provide a positive working environment. As such, Rand Group is a values based company where we focus on embracing opportunity, taking personal responsibility, and contributing our expertise with our best intentions for the betterment of both our clients and the company as a whole. Performance that doesn't reflect this commitment naturally results in changes to our personnel. Our needs as a company will always come first and we strive to positively support and provide opportunity for those who share in that vision. We regret this opportunity was not successful for you and wish you the best in your future endeavors. Ron Rand, CEO

Pros

Great people who are skilled at their jobs. Take care of tenured well. If you are good at what you do, you'll be fine work-wise. Accounting/Finance backgrounds are more coveted and have more room to grow (makes sense as this is an ERP consulting company). Company name is growing in the MS Dynamics space and continuing to do so. Good UH campus involvement and recruiting. Community involvement. Cell phone bill reimbursement. Stocked frig with sodas and some snacks.

Cons

Office is too professional and business-like. Business dress code is too strict (developers have to wear ties except Fridays), but a positive is business casual from Memorial - Labor Day. Accounting/Finance backgrounds are move coveted. Yearly reviews, I am sure others would like more 1x1 time with managers (this depends on personality as well because not everyone is willing to schedule a meeting with a manager so the manager should initiate as a start). High turnover with senior personnel (this is somewhat expected in consulting of course) but the message is hardly ever translated down throughout the company. So need more transparency. Yearly staff retreat, this is no fun weekend retreat that you would think, it is a weekend where most of the office has to come together to review company policies and present presentations (please either change the name or actually make it a "fun" event for the hard-working staff members who deserve an actual retreat). The culture needs to be revisited because if the culture is not right, people will leave. Business may be great and the pipeline full of work, but if people do not feel as though they want to work there, they will look for alternatives.
