Totally incompetent management, manipulative, secretive, dysfunctional. CDO drove away everyone who could manage to get out within a year and a half. Terrible, depressing culture, and salaries way too low.
- Read the article from NPR titled "Is it time to rethink the fly in medical mission?" for a good overview of the good and the bad and judge for yourself. It is good that they are attempting to change their model and how they operate but there is a lot of damage already done. The operations team is top notch at delivering what is promised but strategy is just not on par.
Cons
- When I look back on my time at Resurge it is from a place of embarrassment. Embarrassment at how much I did not know and how little leadership did to teach their staff.
- The culture was one of paranoia and suspicion. An impossible organization for truly strong and creative individuals to thrive in.
1. The work that ReSurge does for patients & families is outstanding and generous.
2. The medical/non-medical volunteers that take the time out of their busy schedules to change the lives of thousands who need access to basic medical care.
3. The future (if any) of the organization and what can be achieved (if) they get government funding. (Probably after Trump's tenure as POTUS.)
Cons
1. Unfortunately this organization does not value employees. You can be there for 6 months, 2 years or 18 years - not one person in management will really value the hard work you bring to the table. (P.S. Gratitude, Leadership and Honesty are FREE.)
2. Understanding and/or wanting to learn about the real work that is done by lower level staff on a day to day basis. (Something I'm sure they are learning now...)
3. Not very strategic - let me explain. This organization is currently or is "coming out of" a deficit. Through guidance from the Board, it was expressed that upper management must take immediate action (after the CEO took a two week vacation). The organization laid off three individuals - two of which worked in fundraising - the very thing needed to sustain an organization. Additionally, I'm pretty sure the individuals that were let go were "on board" and didn't "move on" by choice as stated in the previous review.
4. "Tweaking the strategic plan to sustain the organization needs" is more than just cutting jobs. It's prioritizing the necessary programs and fundraising efforts and it's having upper management take a pay cut. (Just look at the 990 tax form on the website.)
