Where to begin? -
1. The management is terrible and incredibly small minded with their approach to a modern workplace. The no fun police will monitor and micromanage what time you arrive to the office and leave even if you get your work done for the day and leave 10 minutes early.
2. The office was tiny, cramped, had no real ventilation, or Wi-Fi network. Often needed to HotSpot from phone to keep connected to internet.
3. HR is not your friend nor on your side as an employee.
4. I witnessed Readiness IT exploit New Zealand's small business laws and abuse things such as the 90 day trial with staff despite the law not being designed for conglomerates with over 200+ employees globally.
5. The KPI's are difficult to achieve in the small New Zealand market despite Readiness IT marketing themselves as covering the Asia-Pacific region, they simply don't. The managers do not care about this as the only measure of success they have is from Portugal and a handful of developing countries in South America with much larger populations.
6. The upper management are very good at pulling the wool over the staffs eyes and making the company seem more impressive with their software projects and companies they've built apps for which is an overly stretched truth.
7. Terrible pay - Despite rising inflation and New Zealand having a major software developer shortage, employees are paid between $45k-$65k NZD which is less than the market rate and less than easier industries to work in such as Retail or Hospitality. The company dangles the carrot of visa sponsorships to stay in the country to convince their staff to accept such low pay. They will occasionally offer a pizza lunch day to make up for the low wages.
8. The Portuguese workplace culture implemented by current management is not fun and it is expected you work 8+ hours a day to "prove yourself". They're wannabe elitist and seem to think kiwis are too dumb to know what's best for themselves.
9. Very cheap on company events such as Christmas or end of financial quarter parties.
10. The NZ CEO micromanages the staff from Chile or Portugal as he's not allowed in New Zealand.
