Pros

Nice Office Space and commute was decent

Cons

No ongoing business development for local business No local recruiting contracts. Company only went after sub primary MSP type of recruiting contracts. Owner expected that you work vast amounts of OT as an exempt employee. When I was employed- no benefits. Company is a revolving door with all staff.

Since your posting we have focused more effort towards business development in Austin and surrounding areas. As a result, we are now a DIR IT Staffing vendor providing state, county and local agencies with IT staff in support of their operations. We also have positions at Camp Mabry from time to time and we are continuing to focus on developing more business in the local area. As for MSP contracts, we are not big fans of the Managed Services Provider business model ourselves. However, it is a necessary evil in the staffing industry. The MSP model makes things a bit more challenging for recruiters but not for qualified candidates. Bottom line, if we can get jobs via companies that use the MSP model, then that's what we're going to do so that we can offer more opportunities for our veterans. Also, we don't expect vast amounts of OT from our exempt employees. OT does not equal productivity. All we expect is a strong commitment to accomplishing our mission and if that means having to work a few extra hours every now and then to place a veteran, then so be it. As for benefits, we now offer a variety of great benefits which can be found in the benefits section of our profile on this website. It took some time to go from a bootstrap startup working out of our house to be able to get to the point where we could afford to provide benefits to our employees. It's one of the catch 22's that all small, bootstrapped companies must go through. So, I'm proud to say that we've achieved that huge milestone in our business. Lastly, retention in Austin and anywhere for that matter is challenging for small businesses. Especially if you don't offer benefits and are competing with large staffing/recruiting firms as well as large companies for talent. That said, we have many employees who have been with us for 5+ years and I believe that we will continue to improve our retention rate as we grow. Thank you for your valuable feedback.
