      Cruel, dismal place

      Pros

      When I first began it was a place filled with optimism. Coworkers were friendly and helpful, plenty of talent at all levels, minor nepotism in the upper ranks. My first job in the industry and I was walking on cloud 9.

      Cons

      Things began to fall apart a few months in. Instead of fixing major problems with workflow they were always changing focus. Ridiculous time frames that were doomed to fail eventually drove away some of the best talent, and even when things started to look like they might improve, some horrible management decision would turn back the clock and scrap everything. Pay started coming late and it severely impacted my living situation. Management couldn't care less.

      * Talented engineers and artists * Game with unique mechanics

      Cons

      In a matter of a few weeks, the management of Red 5 Studios took a vibrant, fun corporate culture, where people really cared about their work and really believed in their potential for success, and flushed it down the toilet by treating those employees terribly. Layoffs and late pay all point to serious money problems that show no sign of getting better. In my last days there, the company felt rudderless and adrift and without any clear idea how it was going to find its way again.

      Pros

      • The employees (hardworking, dedicated, passionate) • Former management (not the Chinese management) • Atmosphere (Fun, inviting, camaraderie, personable) • Advanced technology (wealth of information) When I first started and until the Chinese management team came in, I was truly happy here. I enjoyed every day and thanked God going to and from work. It's a shame how everything just turned to crap!

      Management • Horrible decisions • Lack of communication • Dishonest • Lack of focus and direction • Don't value employees • Laid of employees with no severance at all (even with 15+ years of exp)
