Pros

Great place to work if you're "green" and don't have a lot of experience. You'll have to wear many hats and work on a lot of projects because there simply isn't enough staff to do what needs to be done. That means you'll leave the company having done a wide variety of different PR, marketing and general business tasks that you probably wouldn't get the chance to do elsewhere.

Cons

After a few months of working there you'll start to pick up on the toxic, "it's all about perception" culture. Staff members are paid poorly, work incredibly long hours and have to deal with egos the size of Texas. I don't know a single employee who has left the company on truly good terms (people who put in their 2+ weeks notice were still bad-mouthed during and after leaving). I would not recommend working at, or with, this company in any way.

At Red Fan, growing a staff of talented individuals who truly enjoy what they do is a core value. Coming from a big agency background, I believe that allowing employees to put their talents to use and experience a variety of work is critical to their development both with Red Fan and beyond. If you stop in our office on any given week, you may find our staff writing blog posts on the patio, collaborating upstairs on client strategy, enjoying an hour of togetherness during breakfast taco Friday or hopping out to go to an event. Each Friday the team leaves early to regroup on accounts offsite at the place of their choosing. This year to celebrate key milestones (and just for a little fun), we closed the office early for a half-day offsite at TopGolf. We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other important milestones and for that reason most of the team knows each other's favorite dessert. I always joke that I have two open doors to my office – and it’s true. My staff pops in and out at their leisure and we communicate constantly around client and team needs. Every 6 months, we give every team member the formal opportunity to sit down directly with me, the owner, and talk about what's working and what's not - what they are learning and how we can grow together. I always hope employees use that time to talk about what they need and to help them grow. Over the last 8 years Red Fan has always employed top notch team members and we’re proud of those that are with us as well as those that have ventured off to their next adventure. While I always hope that every staff member gels with the vibe and style of our agency, I’m realistic in knowing that it’s not going to be a perfect fit for everyone. What is critical to me is that every employee has the opportunity to speak with me regularly and has the chance to map another plan if needed. We have a great team that I am extremely proud of and our clients tell us daily how much they appreciate working with us. Kathleen Lucente President and Founder Red Fan Communications

Pros

Red Fan is a team of experts, passionate about our clients and helping them reach their goals. Having peers pulling together and supporting each other at all levels and across departments is refreshing and inspiring.

Cons

Being a part of a team that holds each other accountable and who goes above and beyond can impose a sense of always needing to perform at the top level, and that can be intimidating. However, once you understand that the entire team is here to support you, you can let go of that fear and trust that you are not doing it all alone. Working together makes us all stronger and smarter.
