Considering working at Reprise? Run!

Pros

No pros of note, all of the same offerings as any other tech company these days. Unlimited PTO, remote first, blah, blah, blah. If those are your “pros” these day, you’re in trouble.

Cons

History is repeating itself as they squander another great product idea with poor execution when it comes to company growth (anyone see what happened to InsightSquared??). Layoffs are the norm. The sales org has turned over too many times to count. Former employees are met with unfounded lawsuits when they move on from the company and move forward in their careers. I truly have never witnessed a more toxic culture than what is fostered by the executive team at Reprise. Employees constantly feel pressure to work long hours, with zero appreciation for their efforts, while friends of the Founder jump between VP level roles that they are unqualified for. If you are even considering a job at Reprise, save yourself the anxiety and time and go ahead and apply directly for unemployment, because you’ll most likely be met with a layoff or "re-org" in the future and need the benefits.

Pros

Colleagues are smart and driven, some of them are truly world class. Product is in an exciting space. Equitable pay committee.

Cons

Worst micromanagement I've ever encountered. Favorites are played constantly. Can't keep customers to save our life. Company culture is terrible, as we've all watched our colleagues get laid off time and time again. Sales team is a revolving door. No career paths here, the company is not growing and leadership is disconnected with boots on the ground. Used to be a promising company, but the writing is on the wall.

Poor Leadership -> Poor Outcomes

Pros

-Strong community of individual contributors committed to collaboration and cheering one another on - Good swag (soft t shirts and backpacks, for example)

Cons

- Lack of transparency on how the business is really doing. There are silos between teams (IC level) and leadership keeps data close to the chest. For example, Product and CS only communicate at the leadership level and meetings at the IC level are discouraged. In another example, Marketing and Product do not communicate directly, leading to various issues when there are new releases. - Lack of face time from founders, who often make big decisions in the background and fail to share information about how the business is doing ("this isn't normal" is not reassuring when there are 3 layoffs in 9 months). - Lack of diversity and a failure to commit to upskilling non-white ICs, particularly at the executive level (only one VP is non-white, only one Manager is non-white, and the support staff are all folks of color). - Lack of adequate onboarding, training, and performance/management tracking. There is no onboarding, no training budget, and no upskilling for managers or ICs seeking to grow. - Lack of accountability, and leadership prefers to start from scratch over and over again. For example, CS blames Sales for churn, Sales blames Marketing for not generating pipeline, and leadership focuses on what the competition is doing instead of user needs. - Executive team, and particularly the founders, are disconnected from day-to-day functions of teams.
