An awful company run by two awful people

Pros

Anything conceivably "good" about working there is utterly outweighed by everything concretely bad about working there.

Cons

You do not want to work here. The founders (with whom I worked for a period) are unethical, greedy, misogynistic, and vindictive. The company itself has become the dinosaur it started out to replace: outdated, slow to react, and "run" by out-of-touch egos. There's good reason for the tremendous turnover in both the onsite staff and the offsite tutoring team: the company takes advantage of literally everyone. Everything is about the bottom line (the "Social Mission" idea fell by the wayside a long time ago, as it just wasn't profitable)--which means pressuring customers to purchase more (with unrealistic promises of score improvement), forcing new hires to work unpaid Saturdays, keeping pay rates as low as possible, and making the bonus structure so byzantine that it's impossible to hold it to account. Because the pay is so low, top talent tends to leave pretty quickly, and, while some competent people remain in mid-level positions, there are unquestionably those who aren't competent enough. The word employees most commonly (and correctly) use to describe the atmosphere is "toxic." Just about everyone I encountered at Revolution Prep was miserable working there, and you will be too if you take a job with the company. You won't be valued for your service; you will be treated as a means to an end. If you want to work in education and help students, do yourself a real favor and work for *any* of the other of the numerous test prep companies out there--I guarantee you you'll be treated much better and have a much healthier attitude toward your work.

Pros

The only pro is remote working.

Cons

Taking advantage of tutors who are paid so little. Here are the facts, and you do the math: 1) Require tutors to be graduate from top 50 universities. 2) Full time work engagement. 3) Salary is $20 per hour. Here is the math: Let's say a tutor works 40hrs a week at $20 per hour, which will make the tutor $3200 per month. After tax and health insurance, YOU BEARLY MAKE A LIVING in a decent city in the US. $3200 per month is a basic salary for a custom service job, which does not require a college degree from TOP 50 universities. All custom service job only require a high school diploma. Apparently this company does not value the education you have worked so hard and paid so much to gain. Ironically, it is an educational institute. I have learned that clients pay more than $100/hour to book tutor sessions from this company. As a tutor, you receive less than 1/5 of the payment.

Pros

Free weekly lunches and snacks

Cons

Terrible leadership and management. All they care about is sales. There's a reason why turnover is so rampant here. All the positive reviews were coaxed out of employees by management.
