Pros

This job gives you a lot of freedom—you're trusted to handle responsibilities without someone constantly looking over your shoulder. The benefits are amazing with plenty of time off and chances to travel for work at events in lux venues. It's 100% remote. You get flexibility without a lot of red tape, and you can easily connect with the CEO. The work-life balance is good and people who enjoy the role tend to stick around for many years (10,20+). Hard work is appreciated and rewarded, and it’s pretty cool to be part of top-notch B2B events and a chance to mingle with chiefs of industries.

Cons

No formal training, but many willing to help, if you ask! Some long hours to be expected around events.

Pros

They recruited me at entry level into events management when I had never worked in the industry before, but I did have transferrable skills from a previous role.

Cons

I was continuously harrassed by the finance director for every little aspect of my work. This even made me nervous to work which resulted in me making mistakes. Once it was just me and her in the office while I worked late and she brought me to the point of tears. All staff members were aware of her bullying behaviour and just put up with it. After working there for 10 months of working for the organisation, I was pulled into the CEO's office and told that I no longer had a place at the organisation. This happened with no warning or performance improvement plan. This was even after I was praised for good work on an event. The way I was treated by this organisation was disgusting and I do question if the colour of my skin played a part, as I was the only black person there, but who knows?!
