Supportive leadership but high stress and low pay
Pros
At the time I was there the department was pretty parent-friendly in terms of flexibility to comp time here and there for appointments, etc. They had decent sick leave coverage and it was distinct from other PTO, which was also relatively good, and I felt comfortable and supported in using all my PTO. Staff and leadership were friendly and approachable.
Cons
Some of us felt a very high-stress environment, with extreme pressure to say "yes" to everything, so we never got the satisfaction of feeling like we had truly completed anything with excellence. There is also the issue of some micro-management. A lot of cultural things were lip service with no real policy or practices to back it up; an example of this is during COVID, they offered and encouraged participation in all of these "resiliance" workshops, but you had to do them on your own time. Pay was and is low, and they do not give raises ever aside from modest inflation adjustments.
