Poor management and work life balance

Pros

Quick and easy hire process. IF you get an interview, you will very likely get a job.

Cons

You may not be doing exactly what you were hired for. Management watches you constantly. You are expected to be available 24/7. They preach family atmosphere but they want the company to be your family not your wife and kids.

Pros

Compensation is decent Nice gear such as backpack, work cellphone, laptop, and tools all provided in order to do your job. Free lunch here and there. Clients are friendly. Upper management is friendly as long as you prove you are doing your job.

Cons

First and foremost, this isn't necessarily the gig you want if this is your first IT job, as more times than not it will be manual labor more than anything. On occasion there will be PC's for you to fix depending on time of season. Be prepared to be micro-managed to the extreme by lower management, even when you are doing your job and all SLA metrics are exceeded, you're going to get a harsh earful about something absolutely redundant. No team support if you are sent out on a long-term project and if you fail to meet SLA due to said project, management will assume you did nothing all day. If you make a judgment call and prioritize one over the other, you will still get an earful. Little to no work life balance, 12 hour shifts and weekends can be made mandatory in order to meet SLA and/or project needs, which can either be few and far between or very often. Lastly, hardware knowledge can be a helpful skill in the IT industry, however in the grand scheme of things every house in IT is transitioning to the cloud, meaning the skills you acquire here aren't at all transferable UNLESS you have prior IT knowledge in another realm of IT.
