Kudos to HR and leadership team to finally get a decent overall rating of 3.5! The efforts you guys put by asking each and every employee to put good comments and ratings in meetings, updating linkedIn and what not. :) I just read few latest reviews and can actually point out who might have written it. Let me put an honest feedback here for everyone else(or as you might say for non-owners) :)
I belonged to Engineering team, hence would be focusing on that mostly.
1. Tech: Please note, Rivigo is not a tech savvy company. Tech wise, it is far behind any mid sized startup you would find in Bangalore co-working spaces. The scale they work on is really low, the data they could generate in coming future is not comparable to any good tech company in India. That is obvious, once you understand their business. However, they sell it very nicely to outsiders. Big names they are associated with, jargons and what not they use. Truth is they are business enablers using tech. I am not saying this is bad, but they are not what they claim. Rivigo is automating and solving decent problems lying in their domain, which were never attempted to solve by any of their competitors, using tech. This puts them ahead of all. However, their tech might not improve, as they lack good leaders/architects to build right things. They use outdated servers, practices, tools etc.
2. People: Engineering team is a set of smart folks. Top IIT grads, mostly juniors, They are unfortunate to understand that world outside is far ahead technically. Also, company lacks mid and senior level folks. They need to realise they can't run a company with level 1 folks, you will die soon. CTO, few directors are thoughtful and matured leaders, but the new leaders are just not good enough. They rush into things, which their team delivers after days and nights of continuous efforts and the product is not used properly for initial few months. I have personally seen few cases like this where people were asked to work on weekends, still the product was not used by operations. IMO, these new folks are just trying to be in good books of founders.
3. Office: The worst office I have ever seen. Gurgaon office is too congested. You don't have places to sit, no empty meeting rooms, anything apart from coffee is hard to get. The food is basic and not free, but healthy, Bangalore office is hopeless, looks like a CA office, but lots of place to sit, since no one is joining. As a facility, you have only free coffee and water.
4. Work-life balance: Pathetic. You are expected to be in office at 9(Founder's expectations) and work 14-15 hours a day. You are expected to deliver the product on weekends/holidays/new year's eve, if the leader wants it. But your leaves are tracked properly on tool and No, you don't get comp-off. Bad practice. So, overall, be ready to put your personal life aside and work your shoes off.
5. Office environment: Frankly, I have seen/heard people fighting, crunching timelines, shouting on juniors every now and then. I have seen very senior people leaving in couple of days of joining because of no work plans for them, false expectations setting, wrong picture of work sold or some fight.
6. Planning: Bad, at least for new leaders. Decent for others. Founders make this hard for everyone.
7. Founders: Both are good at their job, thats why they are there. However, Deepak's thought process is questionable. He has insulted many folks via mail, coping entire company mailing list many times on the least issue possible ever. Mails like this from founders are no more than a threat, IMO.
8. Culture: What is it!!! No care for employees, no good policies, they ask u to stay in basic shared spaces, oyo rooms and do not even provide food/transportations etc. Leaders are mostly bossing around, so does the product guys. Founders write in their mail that even after working for 14-15 hours a day, your health is not company's responsibility. Do not expect any good things here.
Basically, I would never recommend it to any of my friends/colleagues. There are plenty of companies which can provide better problem statements, as well as better culture.
