Pros

- opportunities for socialising - nice office - WFH days

Cons

- Blatant favouritism - birthday cakes and compulsory singalongs for some while others don’t get even get a card - cliquey - certain staff members feel they rule the roost and I feel management enables this, as you get more say depending on how much management like you. If you’re not in a certain clique, they feel unwelcoming/unfriendly, hostility at after work drinks if you’re not in the in crowd, told to move off main tables to make room for favourites … - Compulsory events during lunch hour - staff made to feel like they have to absorb several other roles across departments on top of their own - Promotions based on necessity / favouritism rather than on merit. Male-heavy management. - colleagues comments about women needs to be taken more seriously (see other reviews) - not much diversity - senior women should be valued more highly - Too much investment into wrong parts of business rather than where is truly needed - Roar’s ‘values’ (inclusivity, teamwork, integrity, wellbeing) don’t align with what I experienced at Roar .

Pros

Good culture & friendly people.

Cons

Unserious environment, racial comments made against muslims and people of colour. Clear hierarchy which makes the system only beneficial for some, terrible data, terrible functions. Majority of 'top' sales people there are just managers and get the easy leads to close. In my 5 months tenure I witnessed 12 people leave, that summarises the company, don't make the mistake I did! Manager preferred to discuss football and women with my senior colleague rather than training me. Not transparent, focused on profits rather than stakeholder management.

Dynamic company with potential, but culture issues run deep

Pros

- Mostly lovely, capable, hard-working people - Dynamic but also relaxed vibe - Events well known and respected in the industry - Decent work-life balance - Central and modern office

Cons

In my opinion and personal experience: - Accountability in senior leadership is limited, with mistakes often brushed aside rather than acknowledged and learned from - The culture is gender-biased and not equal. Recognition and career progression often goes to those who ‘fit in’ with management or are regulars at the pub every Thursday - High performers are rewarded with more work, whilst some are praised for doing bare minimum - Favouritism and cliques are obvious, where some celebrated, others are ignored. In my experience, questioning decisions risks being cast out and as soon as you hand in your notice, any good contribution you’ve made is quickly forgotten - Inappropriate comments, especially around women, are often dismissed as humour - HR focus more on protecting the company than on employees. In my experience, confidentiality was used more to shut things down than support employees - Communication is poor and usually limited to damage control around high employee turnover, rather than being transparent
