Pros

Motivating to work with intelligent junior colleagues.

Cons

My experience of Robin"AI" was my worst professional experience to date. 1. JOB DESCRIPTION WAS SEVERELY MISLEADING - (A)- PRODUCT WAS NOT AS DESCRIBED - The position was presented to me as an opportunity to work with the company's legal AI tool- the company's website and employees during the interview stage presented it as a functional technology revolutionising the legal space. The reality during my experience at the company was that the "AI tool" was completely unusable in my opinion (extremely slow, full of errors etc.). It was not the AI tool reviewing these contracts for clients- it was people like me in the Legal and Product team, in my opinion, basically cosplaying as the AI. The company had promised clients insanely short turnaround times on the premise that AI reviews contracts faster than people (oftentimes I was expected to review a contract for clients within a 2 hour deadline), however because the technology was unusable in practice, I found that employees were constantly trying to play catchup to the speed of technology, which is practically impossible to do with the sheer volume of contracts we had to process daily. I also felt that it was strongly unethical, especially as legal professionals, to present the product and service to clients as something completely different than what it was. The firm, in my view, resembled more of a contract processing farm than a technology company. (B) WORK AND SHIFT PATTERN NOT AS DESCRIBED- My work in this role was not working with and helping to develop high-fly tech as I initially expected- instead, I produced contract reviews, one after the other, non-stop, like a robot. Oftentimes the workload was so overwhelming that I couldn't take breaks if I wanted to meet SLAs for clients and avoid being berated by senior colleagues- so my days would involve sitting at my computer non-stop from the morning till after 6pm, churning out contract reviews. There was no diversity in work either- this was literally all I did in this role, for every single client I worked on. Given that the technology was misrepresented in my opinion as more functional than it actually was, my team had to do evening shifts to ensure contracts were reviewed for non-UK based clients. After all, AI doesn't sleep, right? This was not told to me or any of the new-joiners who joined the company with me in the job description, interview stage or employment contract, and no opt-in system or extra compensation was offered. Instead, I experienced pressure and guilt tripping by senior team members to sacrifice personal plans and commitments to work these evening shifts. 2. TOXIC CULTURE - My experience was that employees at RobinAI are not viewed as humans, but as numbers. In my opinion, junior members of the legal and product team have all the contract review work dumped on them, and receive little to no support from majority of seniors (however notably excluding from this statement, certain seniors who actually do reach out and offer help when juniors are clearly overloaded with work). Management in my opinion was incompetent, and I very much found the team I was in to have a 'rule by fear' ethos, where employees were blamed for management and process failures, and made to feel in fear of their jobs if they couldn't handle the unmanageable workload, instead of being offered support. Hiring and firing culture described in other reviews. I experienced employee motivation and morale to be low in general, with the sentiment of being undervalued and overworked. Overall, my experience at this company was shocking and negative and I have a feeling (cough cough scroll down and read the other reviews) that it may not have been a singular or unique one. I can honestly say I would give anything to go back and reject the job offer which once seemed so exciting and promising.

Pros

Some genuinely amazing and hard working people who have fallen into the trap of this company

Cons

Where to start - Let go 10% of the company for no specific reason with no warning, immediately logging everyone out of the systems with no official process in place - They’ve done the classic and planted fake positive reviews to try and save their backs - ‘cultural goldmine’ lol - culture is beyond toxic and leadership wouldn’t think twice about dropping you no matter how much effort you put in - Bizarre office culture and some very hostile people in senior positions who are on a major power trip - The product talks the talk but can’t walk the walk - Head of teams are under qualified and inept at leading/motivating/training a team - Your skills aren’t nurtured, creativity not encouraged

Pros

Working in the cutting-edge field of AI is quite interesting. High-paced work environment.

Cons

Questionable hiring and firing practices that border on illegal. Making employees redundant to then rehire the role does not present well ethically. Lack of barriers between employer and employee - Women beware.
