Pros

After a probationary period they offer benefits although they are bottom-of-the-barrel. Full time positions available. Occasional opportunities to advance if you are willing to relocate.

Cons

There are many problems with this company but I will try to keep it short. First, I was working with this company for five years and upon leaving I still only made less than two dollars more than what I began with. Considering the physical work you have to do and the often demanding tasks every day, the pay is very poor. The company used to offer many incentives throughout the year such as misc bonuses, spiffs and especially yearly profit sharing. Those don't happen anymore. The most they offer to stores is an occasional "pizza party" . The company as a whole is very disorganized and fails to acknowledge the employees and their needs. They would rather spend company money on frivolous entertainment costs and unnecessary sales rep outings which contribute to the employees never receiving the wage they deserve and the bonuses they work hard for. Lastly, if you're looking for a job where you have lots of potential to grow and expand your knowledge in this industry, this is not the way to go. In order to "move up the ladder", you will have to transfer to other stores and most likely the openings will not be in your area or even your district. Even then, within each store there are only two positions above the sales associate and they are increasingly choosing the route of not promoting within. If you have a district manager who came from a different paint company, as they usually are, they will most likely hire people from that company to take those promotions instead of giving Rodda employees even a chance to apply. All in all, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Pros

Color matching is fun You get to love the personality of some customers During the winter months you can literally do nothing The benefits are practically the only thing that they DO have Upper management jobs!

Cons

Most of the computers are DECADES old. The systems themselves have been around since the early 80's. Employee appreciation has gone down the TOILET. If you expect a raise, you should start looking for a different job. They generally appoint .10 cents a year, maybe .25 if you've been good. They boast about profit sharing and quarterly bonuses. In the years that I've worked here, we've only had 1 bonus check. 2 quarterlies. I guess they are losing money?? Trying to communicate color is one of the hardest things you will ever do. You almost feel like you have 5 different bosses. Finding your place in the company just happens, you start by mopping the bathrooms and taking out the trash. Most sales jobs are under more pressure to sell, putting an unfair amount of work on the short staffed stores. Employees are a handful of pirates. They fish, swear, and drink.

I would like express my appreciation for your feedback. I am glad to know that you are enjoying color matching, our customers and the winter months. I am very sorry to hear about your various frustrations. That said I do share a few of them with you. Particularly, the computers and other tools to help you do your job. Please know that we are addressing this first by securing the system for disaster recovery, then up-grading the equipment in our older stores. This will allow us to upgrade the user interface to bring up to date (we are planning to have this completed in 2018). As for your other concerns please discuss these with your Store Manager and or your District Manager. If you do not feel comfortable you may contact me directly dwolf@roddapaint.com or utilize our confidential employee hotline www.roddapaint.ethicspoint.com or 1-844-591-0575. Pros

Can be an easy job at times

Cons

zero loyalty, spent 20+ years here doing ANYTHING they needed, work an entire summer at a location 30 miles from home, meaning I spent HOURS getting to and from work, ok...done....spent months helping at the lab at factory, said they needed help...fine done.....covid 19 comes around and I am let go, while they keep a part timer with 1 year experience, violating their own HR policy on force downsizing. Bottom Line.....NO LOYALTY
