It's quite good, a lot of seminars and opportunities for training and summer school-type things. Everyone is friendly, people come from different backgrounds, a bit diverse about 20% maybe(?) are from the EU and maybe 20% from outside Europe. Work-life balance probably depends on your group
Cons
Not much food variety, no restaurants or any store of any kind nearby, only 2 cafeterias serving either toasties or 2 kinds of meals. Very far from city center (40mins+ on average to get to Roslin), therefore not much opportunity for socializing after work
