Pros

They care about their employees. You can tell this by the amount of employees who have been there 20+ years. If someone is ambitious and wants to put in the work they will help them move up. Culture is good and fun. I have spent 7 years on third shift and moved up consistently.

Cons

Getting to first shift can take many years because of the amount of employees who desire that shift. The company has been working to bring in new work which seems to be shifting culture.

Pros

The people on the floor make working there tolerable. Part time positions available. Two raises a year and a few advancement opportunities for full timers. Quarterly bonuses when available.

Cons

Part timers only get one raise a year. So you could work there for 10, 20, 30+ years and a new hire will surpass you in pay in an extremely short period of time. The top out wage is so low it's laughable. There is no incentive to be better and learn new things when the top out wage is so low and you can't move around to learn new departments. This does not include moving people from molding bay to molding bay but from floor work, to the lab, to office positions. No health insurance or short/long term disability pay is understandable for a part time postion. Some companies still offer it but it is slightly more understandable, what isn't understandable is that you get almost no benefits at all if you are a part timer. You get 4 hours of holiday pay, not even a full shift. You get no vacation pay, no bereavement pay, no fsa/hsa, no life insurance, no fmla, no OT pay, no options for advancement. If you are not interested in a mechanic type of job, you will not move up in the company at all. BEWARE: Royal is a dead end job if you don't have a college education. Office roles can easily be taught in-house. Royal would rather hire outside instead of investing in the training for a long time employee.
