Pros

You can really learn & grow a lot from the company, employees are nice and willing to skill share, people really care to see you grow. Good place to start out your journalism career. Lots of editorial freedom and flexibility for creativity & ideas. We have more holidays off than other news outlets and decent health insurance.

Cons

Egregious COVID policies that make no sense whatsoever, management is wishy-washy about nearly everything--will give you yearly goals but sometimes shoot down your ideas. The volume of work does not amount to adjusted living raises or salary. Lots of people burn out easily. People will treat you weirdly when they find out you work for a Russian affiliated company so be prepared to have a Scarlet letter on you at all times especially if you live and work in DC. Toxic and misogynistic work culture. Lots of harassment gets swept under the rug.

Pros

competitive pay sclae you will not have the journalistic freedom you have here anywhere else in the U.S. - unless of course, you work independently, in which case you may have freedom, but few people will end up accessing your work despite the corporate media campaign against RT, no one approves / censors what we can say on the air can be critical of the corporatocracy, which is rare in U.S. media RT America has a strong following, so your reporting has the potential to make waves

Cons

you end up working with a bunch of losers, because RT can't afford to be selective in their hires, given the anti-Russia political climate another con is that management is literally dumb
