Management is disorganized, disrespectful, and couldn't care less about you
Pros
Medically, Rush has a great reputation.
Cons
I will preface, what I experienced may not reflect every department, but since my employment, I have heard from MULTIPLE individuals in the medical industry that Rush may boast incredible patient care, but that management is an utter mess. I share my story so you can not make a major life decision to join Rush, only to be completely burned by professionals who clearly don't care about the impact they make on another person's life. On my first day, my managers FORGOT I was starting, and were not even in the office because they had taken the day off. My second day, they realized they never requested an email be created/access given to me for portal/log-in. For the 5 days I was employed, they gave me one assignment (which was completed in one day of having access). I came in on Monday, my 6th day of employment, and was let go. My manager didn't have the decency to terminate me in person, but I was told I could follow up via email. Via email, I was informed that performance was not an issue, but that "my expectations did not align with what Rush could realistically offer". Management clearly wasn't ready for me to start, then realized they didn't have the work to keep a Full-time employee busy, and then let me go. I requested more information to understand how exactly my expectations didn't align, to which I received no response. I was never offered any form of severance, so I followed up again, copying HR, requesting some cushion. Again, NO ONE had the sense of humility to respond with a yes or no. I was surprised by the disorganization my first week, but I understand sometimes things don't happen according to plan or work as expected. However, management's inability to own up to their mistake, or to accept responsibility for my unemployment, clearly show the unholy MESS they are in.
