Pros
Decent compensation for persons with no education or little experience Most coworkers outside of sales and management are a joy to work with Occasional free food (burgers fresh off the grill, snacks on the sales office desk) Fun, laid back sales team (sales pressures aside, the sales team generally tries to have fun) Sense of freedom, this is one of the least rigid sales positions I have had
Cons
Shifts are often in excess of 11 hours with the expectation of working beyond shift or store hours when needed, often work 6 days a week. Cut throat work culture is discouraging Demonstrated lack of ethics and values (E.g. disclosing artificially inflated monthly payment numbers to include additional products on contract without discussing option with customer, or informing customer the product would affect payment significantly less than it would) Store culture tends to lack professionalism (use of derogatory terms for customers with poor credit or customers who choose not to purchase a product, etc.) Irresponsible handling of sensitive customer information (SSN, Contact, etc. left laying out on tables and/or desks may put you at legal risk; lack of systems/training in place) Company training tends to be overly generic (motivational videos, general sales steps) Health/life/dental benefits could be secured individually for the same if not less - little to no contribution offered. Drama and tempers between salesmen - frequent sales conflicts
