      Inconsistent support and school politics

      Pros

      Rutherford County Schools has a plethora of schools to work at. There are a wide variety of elementary, middle, high schools and even alternative schools to work in. Fellow teachers are great to work with in most buildings.

      Cons

      Administration at a number of the schools operate on the "Good Ol' Boy System." The schools are seemingly unable to keep up with the influx of new students moving into the area. While the director of schools seems to have ambitious goals for the district, putting the ideas into action has proven to be a difficult task for RCS.

      Good staff to help weather the storm.

      Cons

      Poor leadership that focuses on results instead of taking time to help grow teachers. They are also quick to judge and quick to jump to their conclusions of a situation.

      Pros

      Great instructional support from the district. Whitworth-Buchanan Middle School has an amazing administration. The principal and APs back teachers 100% and quickly and effectively deal with behavior issues so teachers can continue to teach.

      Cons

      School board has made decisions this year that have not always benefitted teachers. Teachers do not seem to be well-represented or considered when it comes to board decisions.
