Pros

Great company to work for, the teams are very helpful and inclusive. I've worked here for 12 years, started at an entry-level position, and worked my way up the ladder. So many great growth opportunities.

Cons

Compensation is not the best, and working hours can get out of control if you don't manage expectations.

Pros

The opportunity to manage the operations of a Ryder service department, mechanics, and vehicle fleet. It's a lot of work but I love the responsibility and fast-paced environment.

Cons

Onboarding & Development, Management Support, Culture. In the middle of a customer crisis and still being new to Ryder, my manager left work early for home. His apathetic response: "just figure it out." I had to call another Ryder shop for assistance. My advice to any other OMT is build up on a network of support for questions you may have. Establish a great rapport with CSCs from neighboring Ryder shops, especially with shops that perform well in (BU) business unit. Also, communicate as much as you can via email and document your work. You'll have to protect yourself professionally or you'll become the proverbial scapegoat. This is an every man for himself culture, but stay optimistic and remain enthusiastic despite challenges. It also helps to ask for regular feedback and direction. I promise to be a different manager if I can make it through the OMT program!
